The Tehran Vocal Ensemble has been awarded two medals at the 2010 edition of the World Choir Games, the world's largest choir competition.
Conducted by Milad Omranlou, the ensemble won a silver medal in the event's Folklore Section and a bronze medal in the Mixed Chamber Choirs section.
The 16-member ensemble performed folk music pieces from the Iranian provinces of Gilan, Kordestan and Fars as well as several chamber choir pieces.
The group has won numerous international awards including two medals at the 2009 World Choir Championship in Gyeognam, South Korea.
Formerly called the Choir Olympics, the World Choir Games hosts choirs from all over the world as an effort to promote the unity of nations with the motto of “Singing together brings nations together.”
Organized by Musica Mundi and Interkultur Foundation, the 2010 edition of the event is currently being held in Shaoxing, China.
