SUBJECT: IRAN POST-ELECTION: [Source removed] CALLS
1.(C) In a conversation today with Iran Watcher, a [Source removed] in Ashgabat labeled the announcement of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's victory in Friday's presidential election a "coup d'etat," and called Iran's incumbent President "another Pinochet." [Name removed] said that based on calculations from Mousavi's campaign observers who were present at polling stations around the country and who witnessed the vote counts, Mousavi received approximately 26 million (or 61%) of the 42 million votes cast in Friday's election, followed by Mehdi Karroubi (10-12 million). According to his sources, Ahmadinejad received "a maximum of 4-5 million votes," with the remainder going to Mohsen Rezai. He said that more than anything else, the huge turnout of voters on Friday was a reflection of the Iranian electorate's overwhelming "anti-Ahmadinejad" sentiments.

The evidence is that no one w/ 62% would be afraid of a recount
by Anonymouse on Mon Nov 29, 2010 11:29 AM PSTI've seen the arguments that Sargord and his new little friend are hanging their hats on. In the article at the Conclusion it says:
No credible evidence published so far indicates that Ahmadinejad stole Iran's 2009 presidential election – or, for that matter, that any fraud at all occurred.
Well. There are plenty of credible evidence, such as not allowing the "observers" to certify the vote count of their precincts. I was there and saw the observers for all parties. In Iran to order some simple chai they have to do what is called a soorat jalase which is basically minutes and all present parties will sign. No soorat jalase for any of the precincts. Nothing!
If Ahmadi won by such a large margin, fair and square, he and his cronies would have loved to have shown it to everyone, schedule a re-count and party like it is 2009!
This is the single most damning evidence that while they claim no evidence of fraud is shown, they did nothing to counter the claim. They only killed, tortured and maimed to show their proof of being able to silence any questions. That's the proof.
Everything is sacred
Aw Fair, we've been through
by Sargord Pirouz on Mon Nov 29, 2010 11:17 AM PSTAw Fair, we've been through this how many times now? Would you please bookmark and retrieve this evidence before asking me this again and again:

I agree with Sargord,
by oz on Mon Nov 29, 2010 11:10 AM PSTI agree with Sargord, there's nothing new here. This is what we
heard from early on post election. As much as the elections in Iran were
opaque, to say that AN received only 4 to 5 million votes seems as rediculous as the opposite claim.
Sargord himself is the "evidence" that no brain is needed!

The usual BS
by Fair on Mon Nov 29, 2010 08:24 AM PSTfrom Colonel Sanders and fellow anti Iranian fascists.
Show me.
Which evidence? It would be very simple if the coup fascists' claims were true- open up and make transparent ALL the ballot boxes for ALL sides in the election to see. Has this happenned?
More BS as usual, and NOBODY, neither the Iranian people, the world, nor even the coup camp/AN and the supreme pizza themselves don't buy it.
This was a common
by Sargord Pirouz on Mon Nov 29, 2010 07:05 AM PSTThis was a common misconception among more liberal elements of the Iranian electorate and elite at the time this cable was written. There's nothing new to it.
Evidence has come to light since then which disproves this.
