Two more special prizes would be given to two special athletes.
All Iranian athletes who won gold medals in different sport fields in the 2010 Asian Games will each receive a housing unit, head of Physical Education Organization Ali Saeedlou announced Saturday.

by yolanda on Mon Dec 06, 2010 09:43 AM PSTThank you, DelilahNY,
for viewing the photos.......I went to a 1000 year old historical mosque in Beijing......I could only take photos outside....could not get in....I saw 3 beautiful Uyghur girls sitting outside the mosque.....they were sitting 6 feet from me.....I don't dare to take their picture 'cause it is such a close distance.....it would be rude.......I wanted to ask them some questions, like are they Shiite or Sunni?.....but the beggars were very aggressive in that area...they snatched my Uyghur naans.......I had to run...LOL!..It was an adventure there!
There was a Uyghur riot last year..180 people got killed...Mottaki came out supporting Uyghurs at first...he said he is very concerned.....I guess later IRI and PRC made a deal......PRC won't support the opposition in Iran......IRI won't support Uyghurs.....
Thank you again for the link...I will go back when I have time!
Please take care!
You're very welcome, Yolanda.
by DelilahNY on Mon Dec 06, 2010 09:18 AM PSTI followed your discussion about the Uyghurs on your first China photo essay thread very closely.
Actually, more closely than anyone else could ever possibly get.
I even watched some of your videos too.
lol

by yolanda on Sun Dec 05, 2010 05:00 PM PSTThank you, DelilahNY,
Thank you very much!!!! I toured Beijing in August.....over there many people asked me if I am Uyghur....I am not......I read about Uyghurs a lot......also watched a lot of Uyghur videos on you-tube.....I read other stuff from your link this morning:
***********************
........Ancient Greek, Iranian, and Chinese sources placed Uyghurs with their tribes, and sub-tribes in the vast area between the west banks of the Yellow River in the east, Eastern Turkestan in the west, and in the Mongolian steppe in the northeast as early as 300 B.C..
**************************
I am not too surprised........Iranians and Uyghurs have some similarities in music, dance, religion, architecture, and food, etc....
Thank you for sharing!
No, I don't read Uyghur News, Yolanda.
by DelilahNY on Sun Dec 05, 2010 02:41 PM PSTI googled guangzhao asian games uyghur especially for you. (That applies to the second link too).
....
by yolanda on Sun Dec 05, 2010 08:33 AM PSTThank you, DelilahNY, for the article link! Wow! You read Uyghur News.....very interesting! A well-written article......it is amazing the residents could not leave their own home or go back to their own home during the opening ceremony......apparently Chinese government likes to force people to do the stuff they don't like.......so there is a Special Asian Games going on now?......
Thank you for sharing!
Oh, anytime, Yolanda, anytime.
by DelilahNY on Sat Dec 04, 2010 11:03 PM PSTAnd since you're so into sports and China, thought you might be interested in some of the preparations for the games and a video on what's happening next.

by yolanda on Sat Dec 04, 2010 07:36 PM PSTI hope it is true that
they (IRI) will no longer be able to prevent female Iranian athletes from participating in international events
Golpayegani, 91, is not the source of emulation for female Iranian athletes.......they are from totally different generations!
The difference between a 91 year old mullah and young female Iranian athletes is as wide as Grand Canyon! I am pretty sure that they have irreconcilable differences!
Thank you, DelilahNY, for the article link!
Yes but
by DelilahNY on Sat Dec 04, 2010 06:50 PM PSTthey will 'uproot the young plant before it grows'...
