These photos show some of the Iranian toddlers participating at a ceremony enlisting with the Basij militia at Imam Sadeq mosque in Tehran. Basij played the leading role in the recent suppression of widespread protests in the aftermath of the June 2009 presidential elections.

I saw a person wearing a Christian cross.....so that is part of Ashura parade?
It seems to me Ashura is equivalent to "Good Friday" in Christianity......people are supposed to be sad.....that is the impression I got.......
If I go to Iran, I will buy a small flagellation chain as a souvenir if it is not too expensive or heavy!
COP jaan please do not insult Teflon Moslem!

Also, pictures of "Islamic cross"!
by Anonymouse on Wed Dec 15, 2010 10:46 AM PSTAs part of the Tasoua (Imam Hussein being stabbed) and Ashoura (Imam Hussein death) they carry this humongous cross with feathers, ala Jesus!
The stronger the man, or the more manly the man, the bigger and heavier the cross!

AO they can enlist babies in diapers in basij all they want.
by Anonymouse on Wed Dec 15, 2010 04:39 AM PSTOlder kids in high school and universities were "enlisted" in basij and other crap as well and we all saw the result when they pour to the streets under the green movement.
For better or worse, Teflon Moslem is part of our culture now. Under a future secular Government many Iranians will still dress up their young ones as Teflon Moslem.
I get a kick out of using the word Teflon Moslem! Do you know how many times I've used this term with kids in my circle of friends and family?! Everybody does it, even those in the photos posted here or in your link.
Here's me using it on Robert!

by yolanda on Tue Dec 14, 2010 02:54 PM PSTSome of the baby basijis are on pacifier or diapers.......The word "basijis" conjures up the images of bearded men beating people up and vandalizing homes in the middle of the night last year........
These baby basijis have angel's smile........I hope they don't end up like the bad basijis.......
Good point, HG!
No Anynymouse - They are enlisting them in Basij
by Anonymous Observer on Tue Dec 14, 2010 02:22 PM PSThere's a report that says exactly that from the horse's mouth (or horse's a** in this case), Mehrnews, itself. In fact, in one of the photos, there is a "paygah moghavemat basij" sign in the background:

hamsadeh: that is exactly what I said.
where are the regime supporting whores?
by hamsade ghadimi on Tue Dec 14, 2010 02:05 PM PSTwhen it came to mahsa expressing her anger, these are some of the regime supporters had to say:
Since I wouldn't practice the same technique as this person with her child, I certainly won't agree that this is the right thing to do.
Those who filmed her and published her are sick.

by yolanda on Tue Dec 14, 2010 11:54 AM PSTHi! Mouse,
So these baby basijis are just seasonal things....not the hard-core basijis....
Thank you for the info!
Yolanda they're not toddler basijis!
by Anonymouse on Tue Dec 14, 2010 10:12 AM PSTThey're Teflon Moslem! Yes the same Teflon you find in your kitchen pots and pans! Telfon Moslem were 2 toddlers during the Shiite epic of Hussein and Ashoura.
At the moment it is Ashoura in Iran during the holy month of Moharram. In Shah's time and during Ashoura, these 2 toddlers named Ali Akbar and Ali Asghar, were put on show as well.
Legend has it that Teflon Moslem were killed by the ruthless Yazid after he killed their uncle, Imam Hussein. The bloody fight between Shiite and Sunni goes back to these legends.
To make a long story short, these are basically "pumpkin wearing toddlers" during the "holy month of Halloween" in the streets of America!
