PERSIA AND THE JEWS

Approximately 2,500 years ago, a combined force of Persians and Medes, led by Cyrus II and Darius, respectively, set out to establish the most extensive empire yet known to man. This alliance, which would soon be known as the Persian Empire, would not only transform the landscape of the ancient world, it would have a direct impact on the restoration of the Jewish people in their homeland and the rebuilding of their holy Temple.

 

Persia was located in the southern part of modern day Iran; its southern border was the Persian Gulf. Media was situated directly to Persia's north, in northern Iran. Media had originally been in alliance with the Babylonians, and had joined with the latter in their conquest of Assyria. The Medes had been the ones to sack and loot the once powerful city of Nineveh.

Jews honour Cyrus II

Good article but I think the dates are inaccurate by more than 150 yars. Crus lived cirica 580 to 530 BC.  

Of all the nations in the world there has never been a people who give such touching respect to Cyrus the Great than Jews. Infact the honour which they bestow on Cyrus even eclipses that of the Iranian people who for too long neglected their great heritage because of the malign influence of Islam. Despite pre-Islamic Iranian civilisation enjoying a renaissance under the Pahlavi dynasty Iranians have only now begun to value their heritage even though Cyrus's tomb in Pasaargad is under threat of destruction by the Sivand Dam. 

The reverence towards Cyrus II by the Jewsih people is a start contrast to the contempts the Islamic Republic has shown towards pre-Islamic civilisation which never stops commemorating Arab Shia saints, Islamic murderers and thieves like Ali, Hussein and Hassan. The recent display of the Cyrus Cylinder in the Tehran museum is nothing but a cynical and staged publicy stunt to woe the supprot of normal Iranians who have come to be fed up with Islam and mosques.  

The admiration for Cyrus the Great shows that Iranians have a lot in common and that the two great people have no need for animosity with one another over Palestine.  

God bless Iran. God bless the Jewish nation. Death to the Islamic Republic and the evil yoke of Islam.
