(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Prestigious French publication Larousse reaffirmed on Friday the proper use of the historic term Persian Gulf after conducting research on the issue.
Director of Larousse Dictionary Publication Jacques Florent officially replied to a letter by Iranian Embassy in Paris who had asked for clarification by Larousse Publication on usage of the Persian Gulf phrase.
Florent wrote that after conducting necessary studies and gaining access to certain documents, it became evident that Persian Gulf phrase is the proper name for the waterway entrenched between Iran, some Persian Gulf littoral states and Sea of Oman.
Iranian Embassy in a letter to Larousse Publication had called for proper use of the phrase Persian Gulf after Larousse Publication used a fake name instead of Persian Gulf.
Some foreign publications in the West have mistakenly used a fake name for the Persian Gulf while the phrase Persian Gulf has been used in the documents of the United Nations, the historical documents, travelogues and ancient maps.
