Iranian smuggled 'ice' in his stomach

An Iran tourist was arrested for drug smuggling at Suvarnabhumi Airport on Tuesday after customs officials found crystal methamphetamine, known as "ice", worth about 1.5 million baht in packages in his stomach.

Mozawi Mazum, 27, an Iranian national, arrived on a Mahan Air flight from Teheran at the Suvarnabhumi airport on Tuesday morning.

He was searched by customs officials. An x-ray scan  detected  56 packages of the drug, weighing a total 430 grammes, in his stomach.

He allegedly confessed he had been hired for US$5,000 to deliver the drugs to a contact in Pattaya city.The suspect said it was the first time he had carried drugs, officials said.
