THE US slapped a $4.7 million bounty today on the head of Russia's most-wanted terrorist, Doku Umarov, dubbed "Russia's Osama bin Laden."

US President Barack Obama and his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev met today ahead of the G-8 summit at Deauville on France's Normandy coast, their first face-to-face talks since the killing of the al Qaeda leader in Pakistan.

In a joint statement released by the White House, the US said it would target Umarov, who has claimed responsibility for deadly attacks on Moscow's subway last year, in which 40 people died, and a bombing at Moscow's Domodedovo airport this year which claimed at least 35 lives.

"The United States is … announcing today [Thursday] that it has included Doku Umarov in its 'Rewards for Justice' program, offering a reward of up to $4.7 million for information that leads to the location of this key terrorist leader," the statement said.
