Valery Giscard d'Estaing, in an interview with France TV Channel 3 on Tuesday, said that Ayatollah Khomeini was one the greatest leaders of Shia world and Shah's secret police 'SAVAK' killed one of his sons.
He pointed out that Ayatollah Khomeini was exiled to Iraq because of his campaign against Iran's then government and then came to France.
Answering a question by TV host what he felt when Ayatollah Khomeini received permission to stay in France during his tenure, Giscard d'Estaing said that he was not sad about his decision.
Giscard d'Estaing, French president in years 1974-1981, said that he did not have enough knowledge about the ayatollah and he did not know that he was among the greatest Ulema of Shia and a person who was fighting against Shah regime.
