TEHRAN - Deputy head of Iran's Armed Forces Joint Chiefs of Staff Brigadier General Masoud Jazayeri announced Iran plans to establish its first cyber command for the country's armed forces in order to counter soft warfare against the Islamic Republic, the English language satellite Press TV reported on Wednesday. Jazayeri told reporters on Tuesday that comprehensive studies on the cyber command have already been carried out and the results will soon be rendered to the Iranian Armed Forces, said the report. He said that Iran's military forces must be equipped with state- of-the-art technology when it comes to soft warfare. In December last year, senior Iranian army commander, Brigadier General Mohammad Baqeri, warned of the waves of soft war against the Islamic Republic, saying that enemies have now targeted the self-confidence of the Iranian nation. By soft war, "enemy tries to affect the thoughts of the other side to gain victory and attains its goals by invading the values and patterns of behavior and changing them," Baqeri was quoted as saying by the semi-official Fars news agency.
