The BBC does not seem to have put online the full transcript of Tony Blair’s interview with Jon Sopel on the Politics Show from yesterday, but they have issued it as a news release, so I reproduce it here.
He was interviewed in the “Pasha Room” (although the picture shows a separate interview in the courtyard), which I assume is in the American Colony Hotel in Jerusalem, from which the office of the Quartet representative is shortly to move, The Independent reports today.
I enjoyed his response when Sopel tried to ask him about Ed Miliband: “Briefly.” Sopel asked: “Why, because you don’t want to talk about him?” To which Blair replied: “Well, you know there’s only a certain amount you can say really without saying too much.”
Jon Sopel: Tony Blair, we’ve followed you the past few days, expending enormous energy up and down Israel, the West Bank, but this is a process in deep freeze, isn’t it?
Tony Blair: It’s a process that’s in big difficulty by now. Although, you know what you learn about these processes is that every time they’re in deep difficulty there’s also an opportunity and there is one now.
