During the first stage of the exercises, codenamed Payambar-e Azam (The Great Messenger) 6, the IRGC tested Fateh-110 missiles.

In September, Iran announced that the country has successfully test-fired the third generation of Fateh-110 missiles.

The Fateh-110 is a short-range, road-mobile, solid-propellant, high-precision ballistic missile with advanced navigation and control systems.

The Fateh-110 has been designed and developed by Iranian experts in the Defense Ministry's Aerospace Organization and has not been modeled on any foreign product.

On Tuesday and in the second phase of the drills, the IRGC fired simultaneously 9 ground-to-ground Zelzal missiles and 5 Shahab class missiles, including 2 mid-range Shahab-1, 2 mid-range Shahab-2 and a long-range Shahab-3.

The liquid-fuel Shahab class missiles include a wide range of missiles, including the well-known Shahab-3 which has a range of up to 1,250 miles (2000 kilometers) and is capable of carrying a 1,000-760 kilogram warhead.

The optimized Shahab-3 is more precise than the previous models and Iran has promoted its Navigation Systems.

The first stage of the drills started in the presence of Commander of the IRGC Aerospace Force Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh and IRGC Lieutenant Commander Brigadier General Hossein Salami on Monday.
