“More than 50 poets from about 30 countries will attend the event,” said Iran's Deputy Culture Minister for literature and poetry Yahya Talebian.

"The conference will open during a ceremony in Tehran with parts of the program presented in Shiraz," IRNA quoted Talebian as saying on Friday.

The conference aims to introduce poets from around the world and establish dynamic interactions among them.

Participants can also take part in Hafez reciting sessions and visit the cultural city of Shiraz, on the sidelines of the event.

Iran's first International Poetry Conference was held in April 2010 in Tehran, Isfahan and Shiraz.

The second edition of this literary event will be held from October 8 to 21, 2011.
