TEHRAN (FNA)- Secretary-General of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad Movement Ramadan Abdullah met with the Iranian Supreme Leader's top advisor for international affairs Ali Akbar Velayati here in Tehran on Sunday.
At the meeting held on the sidelines of the First International Islamic Awakening Conference, the Palestinian leader praised Iran's initiative, and appreciated the Islamic Republic's continued support for the oppressed world nations, specially Palestinians.
He further lauded the yesterday remarks of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, at the conference, saying that his guidelines showed the path to the Muslim nations.
Velayati, for his part, called Palestine as an issue for the entire Muslim world, and said the growing tides of Islamic awakening presented a principled and fundamental way to liberate the Palestinian lands from the Zionist regime's occupation.
Elsewhere, in a separate meeting, Velayati also met with the former Iraqi Prime Minister Ibrahim Jafari, where the two sides discussed the issues raised at the conference about Islamic awakening in the region.
Jafari and Velayati also exchanged views over the latest developments and issues in Iraq.
