Terror and counter-terror are forms of conflict resolution. People try to resolve conflicts with minimal force. We engage in terror and counter-terror to avoid having to address our conflicts with deadlier weapons. Paradoxically, terrorism saves lives. Repulsive as terrorist and counter-terrorist acts are, they kill fewer people than other forms of violent conflict resolution, from Second World War-style carpet bombing to First World War-style trench warfare.

As acts of belligerency, terror and counter-terror are the opposite of total war: They’re symbolic and/or narrowly targeted. Their gradual shift from the fringe to the mainstream occurred over the last 40 years as our battlefield weapons became more destructive, our targeting capabilities more precise, and our tolerance for casualties, including enemy casualties, much reduced. By now targeted assassinations are near-acceptable instruments of public policy.

Ever since I started writing on Iranian.com I have always said that target assassinations is the best form of conflict resolution with the IR. Assassinations may not 'cut the snake's head off' immediately but it will slowly produce results as it has in ISRAEL. The Islamic Republic is a henious entity that is killing Iranians wholesale. It is the number one killer of Iranians. No action is not an option. If you do not want a total war then target assassinations may be the only form of military action which is safer and reduce casulaties. This may be the only option for the salvatuion of Iran. The IR will soon celebrate the 40th anniversary of its wretched existence. How long can you be complacent in exile while hundrerds of our compatriots are slayghtered in prisons or strangled on the gallows? How long will the rape of young men and women in prison be tolerated. How long are you goint to wait until the IR ravages Iran's society, economy and its environment. There isn't a single facet of life in Iran which the IR hasn't ruined. 

I urge the US State Department together with opposition movements to formulate their own list of terrorists for target assassination startiing with Mhamoud Ahmadinejad.
