What if Israel bombed Iran? The view from Washington.

President Obama is enjoying a quiet dinner with Michelle, Sasha and Malia at the White House residence on a Thursday evening in October when he gets the call.

Two dozen Israeli fighter jets have just entered Jordanian airspace, apparently en route to Iran, chief of staff Jack Lew tells him. They will enter Iranian airspace, via Iraq, in approximately 85 minutes.

“Damn it,” Obama says under his breath. “Bibi told me he was going to hold off.”

Worst Case Scenario

For months, Israel has threatened to strike Iran’s nuclear sites. The United States has urged restraint. If such an operation were launched, how might Washington react?

A pre emptive war ... A war of aggression

by Soosan Khanoom on

Reason : BIBi's weapon of mass illusions

NO... They can't fool the American people anymore.

Should the war start it will only make IRI stronger cause Israel alone can not get it done. And it also makes IRI to actually attain the atomic bombs ...not to mention seeing stronger support for that by the people of Iran ..,

If Israelis do not kick BiBi out of the office they are going to deal with much more  stronger IRI and a nuclear one too ..

Then they can kiss their promised land goodbye !!!

A hypothetical scenario….

by Bavafa on

Nevertheless, one that could happen.

And this piece only goes to show that there is absolutely no care about war on another country with so many lives at stake.  The leading nation in the world cares only about its own gas prices and election and for that it needs to prove to its constituency that they fully support a nation that just started another war on another country.

For those with no care about the Iranian people, this would be just fine as long there is a hit on IRI.

And my bet certainly would be that IRI would retaliate as they have proven so far to have done so each time they were hit.  Israeli aggression must not go unanswered.

'Hambastegi' is the main key to victory

Pity .... Sajjadpour is dreaming.

by Esfand Aashena on

Really Karim?  Israel sends 20 fighter jets (from where?) and it's a total success and "water does not move from water"?!

I still like Sajjadpour but this one is like he is dreaming.  You can do better, we expected more from you otherwise we get this type of "scenarios" day in and day out from our registered trolls on i.com!

Everything is sacred

Great Piece!

Thanks DK.

You can see Karim Sadjadpour's humor and realism all over this piece, especially the part about Regime showing the recent earthquake victims as the casualties of the attack.

His bottom line is that an attack will do some damage but it will not destroy the Regime's program. Also, the Regime despite all its talk will probably won't do much in the way of retaliation either. Oil will go up and will then come down. And life will go on!

I completely agree.
