Photo essay: Largest Iranian demonstration in Westwood, southern California
Contra Costa Times -- While much of the media and world attention was on the death of Michael Jackson, one of the largest rallies yet was held in Westwood Sunday, June 28, to seek political reforms in Iran. A crowd estimated by police at 5,000 people gathered at the Federal Building around 1 p.m. for an ``Iranian Demonstration for Human Rights in West Los Angeles.'' In addition to protesting what they consider to have been a rigged election, in which President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was reelected, they are seeking more freedom and equality in the Islamic state. The protesters marched from the Federal Building near Veteran Avenue, up Wilshire Boulevard to Westwood Boulevard, Santa Monica Boulevard and Sepulveda Boulevard, then back to the Federal Building, according to the Los Angeles Police Department

No Lion and Sun II
by ShahramJ (not verified) on Mon Jul 06, 2009 02:41 PM PDTDavood,
i have to agree that i didn't see a prominent display of the Iranian flag in this photo essay by Bita. God forbid, was she selective in her photo taking?!?!?
i have lived in LA for 30 years and participated in most of the demonstrations and as always, the Iranian flags (with Lion and sun) have been on display, as they were that day.
Maybe if people carried the Islamic flag or Mousavi photos, she would have shown them?
Shame on Bita for her sad and one-sided "journalism".
JUST PLAIN PATHETIC.
SHAME ON YOU BITA AND SHAME ON IRANIAN.COM...
No Sun and Lion Flag? Mousavi'ites in LA?
by Davood_Banayan on Sun Jul 05, 2009 09:20 PM PDTAmericans for a Democratic Republic in Iran.
L.A. has been taken over by supporters of Mousavi. Mousavi was Prime Minister during the 1980s when Khomayni was the Spiritual leader. When did L.A. convert to Pro-Mousavi theocracy supporters?
Is the Lion and Sun flag dead or what?
Does Michael Jackson know about this?
Michael Jackson
by Sunni Persian (not verified) on Sun Jul 05, 2009 11:26 AM PDTGive it up, the worlds focus is now on Michael Jackson. You lost, Iran will continue to be an Islamic country--albeit a half-a$$ Shia version--regardless of what u materialistic, westernized, amoral degenerates think. God +1, Soulless Secularists 0.
To: Ramtin - be fair!
by farrad02 on Sun Jul 05, 2009 09:09 AM PDTI looked through all the pictures in this collection and I didn't see one person who is trying to conceal his/her identity. In fact, many of them don't have any glasses on. I think you're seeing things that are not there!
You need to stop your self-rightous pitty party and stop hating your own kind! At least these people got of their behinds and came out. What did you do?
Yeah yeah. And they still
by Hatehiprocrates2 (not verified) on Sun Jul 05, 2009 06:49 AM PDTYeah yeah. And they still don't have the correct picture of Neda Agha Soltan. There are two different pictures of Neda. One is still ALIVE.
Sunny Day In LA
by Ramtin (not verified) on Sat Jul 04, 2009 05:40 AM PDTWow. Amazing how many of them are wearing sunnies. Which ofcourse has the dual feature of obscuring their facial features, which can be very handy as I'm sure they don't want to lose their precious IRI passports. Naturally they need that to go back to Iran twice a year and collect their rent monies! Oh.. how I HATE hypocrites!
Thank You
