Join us in New York City, September 23rd and 24th, as we raise our Voices for Iran and demand Ahmadinejad be held accountable for crimes against the Iranian people. We call upon the international community support human rights in Iran and reject the policies of military aggression and economic starvation.

We ask that you please not bring nation flags. We all love our countries and their symbols but at this action we strive for a united event with a message that doesn’t appear factional. Basic Event Info

The following is a sheet designed to help you organize for the protests during Ahmadinejad's visit to the UN: September 23rd and 24th.

Activity Descriptions

Protest Outside the UN: A mega rally outside the UN building featuring speeches from well know Iran and non-Iran human rights activists, academics, journalists, artists and celebrities and several musical performances. This protest will take place on September 23rd or 24th between 2:30pm and 6:30pm roughly when Ahmadinejad is scheduled to speak.

Iran Alive: A vigil featuring an art instillation/film. The piece will be short film depicting recent events in Iran projected against a screen comprised of 100+ women and men wearing all white. Audio will involve music and Persian and English recordings of Iranians saying "Ahmadinejad is not my president." This vigil will be held in a NYC public park (TBA) and will take place the evening of the 23rd at 7:30pm.

March with the Green Scroll: This is tentatively scheduled for a march across the Brooklyn Bridge. This can take place during rush hour midday September 24th. We estimate the march will take between 1 to 1.5 hours to march single file across the bridge with a brief stop for photos of the scroll at full display. The march will end in a NYC public park.

After Party Fundraiser: a live show in a New York City club with performances by Kiosk and more.

HOW TO SET UP A DELEGATION

First: Email delegations.voices4iran@gmail.com [8] or call 646-784-3153. Let us know your plans. We’ll help you in anyway we can and offer hotel information and details about the Set it Up for Iran actions.

Second: Set goals. Set a goal for the number of people your getting to NYC. Set a fund raising goal for the trip to subsidize students and others that can’t afford to pay.

Third: Figure out the best way for people to get to NYC. We recommend East Coast and Mid-Western cities charter buses. Our delegations coordinator will help.

Fourth: Announce the delegation. Make a Facebook events page and send out emails.

Fifth: Throw a delegation launch rally and invite local media and the community. This will give your friends and family a chance to rally together for human rights. And more importantly let the local media interview you about your trip to Iran and see the commitment their community has to human rights, democracy and against international policies that will hurt the movement.

FUNDRAISING

Along side organizing a delegation and fund raising for that delegation we ask local groups to fundraise for the main events in NYC. Please look at the itemized budget below and set goals based on our needs and your capability. This budget can be made available to anyone who asks and should be used to solicited bigger contributions. Tax deductable contributions can be at united4iran.org [9] or by mailing us a check made out to Human Rights Watch. Email us for the address. Checks can also be collected by local groups and brought to New York in September but please let us know when you have these checks in hand. We can help come up with fundraiser ideas!
