Getting back to PARVIZ
by YO (not verified) on Wed Sep 19, 2007 10:02 AM PDTParviz, maybe you would view my comment as stupid, but your comments were/are irrelevant. What you wrote was besides the point of what people were commenting on. They were merely reminiscing on what the film and the title of the clip reminded them of which was Iranian F-4 phantoms in action. And incase the history has changed those pilots did fight for the country and did a good job at it too. With the sound of it you're one gung-ho patriot, is that correct? So what do you do to show it? Start insulting your compatriots on a subjective illogical judgment-call from the bottom layers of your lame brain? Oh yeah, you're a real patriot all right! That's the trouble with Iranis like you. You're the perfect one and the rest of us are blurry eyed idiots. You call your country men stupid because of a few heart-felt comments they made about their homeland's air force - knit picking from every comment to fill out three paragraphs. I merely commented to inquire why you were so angry. My comment should have been "somebody piss on this guys brain maybe you can put the flames out…." Who is the stupid one now, asshole?

What are you talking about? What women? The women in Iran are not allowed to walk in the streets like normal human beings and you are praising their "valor and honor" in piloting a fighter plane?
Stop making stupid comments. Praising this or that for sacrificing this or that does not make you a patriot. Most of these comments are simply stupid. You see a bad quality clip showing some plane flying from the left of the screen to the right and your national blood pressure goes up and the result, in the form of your comments, is there for all to see. For all you know this could be a footage of Iraqi planes bombing Iranian positions. Or are you such an expert in aviation that even a terribly low quality footage can not deter you from recognizing an Iranian Air Force plane?
So take it easy. If you are so brave and such a lover of your country how come I do not see you fighting the mullahs in order to liberate you "beloved" Iran? Idiots!

Our Eagles,
by sk on Thu Sep 13, 2007 11:06 AM PDTWe had some of the best birds and pilots to fly them on the planet. Our Imperial Air Force was ranked among the top 5 in the world. Some of these guys were trained in Miramar, San Diego where they based the movie Top Gun on. The only difference was they were not bunch of pretty guys, they were some of the best FIGHTER PILOTS any airforce have seen. They were our EAGLES. God bless thme all. True legends.
Just remember...
by Anonymous on Wed Sep 12, 2007 06:31 PM PDTAs you admire the Iranian fighter pilots just remember that these guys were all trained in the US and the Iranian Air Force became Iranian Air Force because of the Shah's vison and not Allah or some Arabic nonsense. Just remember!

So the question to the dumb ass commis and islamo facists are simple: you guys constantly blamed shah for purchasing militery equipment and building a modern army. well had he not done so, how , who and with what you morons would have been able to defend against the enemy?
I used to live among these heroes
by پیام on Wed Sep 12, 2007 02:02 AM PDTAs a kid I grew up at Tabriz military air base where my father used to operate Rapier SAM's. Me and my family exprienced the war up close and personal and I witnessed the many, I mean really many take offs and landings of this heroes at the air base at an hourly basis. Lots of them made the ultimate sacrifise and gave their lifes to protect their country, their families and their fellow Iranian.
May their souls rest in peace for they are the greatest heroes world have ever seen, taking into account that we Iranians fought against the whole world that was supportive of Iraq. May we never forget their names and what they did for Iran.

Lt. Col. Abbas Doran
by Anonymous on Tue Sep 11, 2007 11:39 PM PDTOne great example of these heros was Lt. Col. Abbas Doran. This is from Wikipedia. //en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abbas_Doran
Roohash shad.
Lt. Col. Abbas Doran (also known as Dowran or Dooran) was an acclaimed Iranian fighter pilot. He flew for the Imperial Iranian Air Force (IIAF), and continued flying after it was renamed the Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force (IRIAF) in 1979. Colonel Doran piloted an F-4 Phantom II. He was shot down over Baghdad in 1982 trying to prevent NAM conference from taking place in Baghdad by showing the city as insecure during the war.
After the outbreak of the Iran-Iraq War, Colonel Doran became a hero in the IRIAF and beloved by the general public, especially in his home town of Shiraz for exceptional bravery he showed during the war.
Prior to combat training in the F-4 Phantom, Lt Dowran received his basic flying training at Columbus AFB, Columbus Mississippi. He was a member of Undergraduate Pilot Training Program Class 73-02, graduating in the fall of 1972.
Colonel Doran, known for flying the Phantom II beyond its limits, lower and faster than anybody in the Iranian Air Force, he was a great marksmanship with the M-61A1 Vulcan gun, and had a high number of AGM-65 Maverick kills, and with the help of his wingman and the rest of the IRIAF, he virtually destroyed the Iraqi Navy in October 1980 during Operation Morvarid. One of his greatest values to the IRIAF was being the mission planner, because, according to the IRIAF, 90% of his missions in Iraq were successful. He's also known for writing numerous letters to the new government's heads asking them to stop executing and arresting former IIAF pilots during the time of war.
Saddam planned to host 7th Summit of Non-Aligned Movement in Baghdad to show that Iraq enjoys stability during the ongoing war. The conference was scheduled to take place at Baghdad’s Al-Rashid Hotel and would have been a big blow to Iran, if Saddam Hussein were to hold it successfully.[1] Therefor Iran tried to show Baghdad isn't safe. Therefor IRIAF planned to hit Baghdad by plane for the first time. This was the last sortie of Doran. He flew on Wednesday, July 21, 1982 at noon. Doran flew to Baghdad on his jetfighter and bombed Ad-Doura refinery in Baghdad before carrying out a martyrdom attack on the venue of the international conference days before it was scheduled to open.[1] Flying over the Iraqi capital he fell into a trap. His F-4E was hit by two Euromissile Roland 2 SAMs. His weapon systems officer ejected from the plane and was taken prisoner. Knowing that he was the most wanted pilot in Iraq and also the key IRIAF mission planner, he chose to die crashing his plane into Al-Rashid Hotel.[1] His sacrifice caused the summit to be held in New Delhi instead of Baghdad.
Iraq returned Doran's remains to Iran on 21 July 2002.
During his time with the IRIAF, Colonel Doran led more than 120 strikes into Iraq and by 1982 had flown over 2500 sorties and more than 900 combat missions.
