Ahsha Safai

Stands a decent shot at being elected for San Francisco's Board of Supervisors

The event above was a fundraiser for Iranian American and MIT graduate, Ahsha Safai at a restaurant in San Francisco restaurant. Safai stands a decent shot at being elected for Supervisor of San Francisco's 11th district, because of his healthy background in city planning. He's worked for the San Francisco Housing Authority, Mayor (Gavin Newsom's) Office of Community Development, the Department of Public Works, and for a non-profit workforce development organization.

Like all good candidates his top priorities range the gamut from stepping up maintenance within SF's aging infrastructure (sidewalks, roads and bridges etc.) Aggressive enforcement of issues affecting the quality of life (illegal dumping, graffiti, trash and noise) Revitalizing the City's parks, working with the private sector to improve schools, and he plans to foster an environment friendlier to businesses working in tandem with the local government.

But what sets him apart from other candidates for supervisor, is that Safai enjoys the support of his ex-boss, Mayor Gavin Newsom as well as (here's where it gets good) a great working relationship with fellow Iranian American, Supervisor Ross Mirkarimi which helps clear the way for smoother sailing in an otherwise prickly political environment that is SF's local government.

When asked why Safai feels he makes a good leader he says: "I see myself as someone who will be a consensus builder and someone who will look to practice the art of compromise where appropriate."

We wish him all the best in both winning and meeting his lofty goals. Ahsha Safai is only accepting contributions from San Francisco residents. Please fill out this form and show your support.

Hope Ahsha gets elected!

I really hope Ahsha gets elected. I don’t live in SF, otherwise I’d have definitely contributed to his campaign and voted for him.

I spook to him briefly back in March and he came across as really genuine and a concerned fellow. As expected he holds many progressive positions. We need many people like Russ and Ahsha from IA community in elected offices. It’s long past time to have IA community representatives in decision making positions.

Go Ahsha!!!!

Lalé Shahparaki Welsh

To Souri

Salam Souri Khanum,

Actually I do know that Ahsha (Pronouced ashaa) is an Avestic word meaning "Path of Truth".   This is a good (Serendipitous) name for a politician.

Let's hope he always finds the inner strength necessary to live up to it.
