I don't get it...
by Iranian Muslim on Fri Sep 12, 2008 01:45 PM PDTMuch of t2012's work is valuable and creative, but the politics of this piece is sick and confused. Do they really think Chris was in the wrong for entertaining Iranians? Do they really think that Chris, an international legend with all the money he could ever want, performed in Iran for the money?
How obcene.
What peace activist?
by deev on Wed Aug 27, 2008 09:42 AM PDTYou wonder how much Najafi got paid from New Conservative? Get real!
I'm wondering how much Chris de Burgh got paid kissing up to the Islamic government? What world peace? Long forgotten in his own country's music scene he's gone where desperate people pay him attention and money and girls jeer for him so he's more like an attention-whore than a peace activist, can't expect more from a Brit anyway!
Peace
by PMK (not verified) on Tue Aug 26, 2008 09:40 PM PDTI am wondering how much he got paid from New Conservatives to do this song? War profiteers extensively use some of the Iranian opposition and the thugs from feminist fascist movement to attack World Peace Movement.
The recent rash of anti peace / Pro War activity has basically three component:
First, they claim the peace activist are leftist or communist. This is by far a long shot. I haven’t seen leftist or communist for years or perhaps decades. Perhaps, they mean they are pro Chavez Elements in US.
Second, they claim, Peace activist are agent of IRI. Oh, Please humor me no more. I don’t claim to know millions of peace activist around the world, but I have met many of them . Trust me, the last thing anyone could claim is they are IRI agent.
Third claim is that Peace activist are in Pink Clouds and have no clue about Iranian people’s suffering. So natural conclusion from this kind of retard thinking is that, World Peace Movement should support US war against Iran in order to better the situation in Iran.

No R.E.S.P.E.C.T
by Solhdoost (not verified) on Tue Aug 26, 2008 09:24 AM PDTAs much as I liked this guy's first song about woman and how its their turn to lead in a man's world this song was nonesense. I think any cultural exchange between countries is healthy. I understand what he's trying to say which is basically there have been grave trageties in Iran and how the government treats its people but what I don't understand is the solution. This guy is saying we should all be doing is forever stay in a hateful sadenned state of being and not do a damn thing but to sign useless signatures to nowhere. I think Chris's solution is much better. He knows there are difficulties in getting permits and what not to perform in Iran but there are many people there who like his music and an artist's job is to listen to its fans. In other words he doesn't give a damn about which government is in power and is doing it soley for his fans which I admire alot. Also just because any lyric is set to hiphop doesn't mean the guy behind it actually thought about what he's saying all he's trying to do is make rhymes thats all :D
R.E.S.P.E.C.T.
by Party Girl on Tue Aug 26, 2008 08:54 AM PDTThe song is O.K. and it may have an important message for Mr. de Burgh. But why was it necessary for the singer to insult and accuse other Iranian artists? What was cool about viciously attacking Arian? Those young guys have had to make their music against so much adversity, their concerts cancelled on the night of the show and intimidated by authorities just to make their music. Why is it necessary to attack Mohammad Reza Lotfi who has returned to Iran for the past several years to train a whole generation of new Iranian musicians? Why attack Shajarian who has never sung the praises of those in power in Iran, devoting himself to Iranian traditional music?
I don't really care about Chris de Burgh, but I do care about all those who have kept Iranian music alive and the sad and demoralized young people of Iran entertained during some of the darkest times.
It is just too easy for a music video to be produced outside Iran, protesting things inside Iran. Though that is very necessary, it cannot be at the expense of beloved and respected artists and masters of Iranian music. This video would have been a lot better without all of that hate. Respect is the easiest and cheapest form of observing human rights.
