There are TEN!!! days left before the Quarter 2 fundraising reports due - and Darius Shahinfar - the FIRST Iranian American with a realistic chance of winning the Democratic Primary in a VERY Democratic state NEEDS YOUR HELP. I don't solicit for money - but this is a very special case. I know EACH of you can throw down $25 and some even $100. The report he submits for this quarter will be VERY important for the media narrative about his relevance in the race and his chances for winning... Even if half of us hit that link and sends him $25... that would be about $5000 which is A LOT for a House Primary election. This video is from Darius's kickoff event at the Hibernian Hall in Albany on Sunday March 9, 2008. Darius is running for the Democratic nomination for Congress in New York's 21st District>>> dariusforcongress.com

about time
by Iranian American (not verified) on Thu Jun 26, 2008 07:58 PM PDTI believe 30 years is enough time for Iranian Americans to get seriously involved in US politics. Not necessarily to lobby for Iran (as many Iranian American organizations are doing), but to show that we are proud members of this community with great contributions like other ethnic groups, and at the same time proud of our Iranian heritage. I'm excited about Shahinfar's run for Congress. His success will be a step forward for all of us. I'll happily support him.
People have NO shame
by Anonymous_fedup_with_some (not verified) on Tue Jun 24, 2008 10:07 PM PDTI love how some people are suddenly "Iranian" in order to raise money. I think that is just offensive. People like Ahsha Safai, or Ross Mirkarimi- who now show up at Iranian events. I like to ask: How many Iranians have they hired on their staff? How many Iranian students/ scholars have they helped? What have they really done for the Iranian community except show up at celebrations and waive their hand like beauty queens? Please correct me if I am wrong, or mis-informed. In short, do we want Iranians in politics: YES. But we should really rally behind those that we know will make a difference in our community, not those that just use their "Iranian" card to make money from our small community. People have no shame. **Best of luck Mr. Dariush. I don't know much about you- and this comment is NOT intended to be offensive or directed to Mr. Dariush whatsoever. I am just fed up with what I've seen/ read about in CA**
Babak Talebi
by Anonymouse on Tue Jun 24, 2008 06:08 AM PDTIf ALL of the Directors of NIAC support/oppose a candidate as an individual US Citizen, NIAC is still not supporting/opposing a candidate?
I am not saying it is wrong. It would be nice during this Presidential election to see 2 NIAC Directors debate the candidates who they support. I don't know if anyone at NIAC would support McCain given his stance on Iran and saying Iran is training AlQaeda, but there can be individual US Citizens in NIAC who are Republicans, right?
Just to clarify - this is NOT a NIAC endorsement
by Babak Talebi on Tue Jun 24, 2008 12:22 AM PDTFriends,
just to clarify - this is not a NIAC endorsement. obviously as a 501c3, NIAC can not endorse, support, or oppose candidates. but as an individual US citizen, I can and do support/oppose many candidates.
I have personally met Mr. Shahinfar and he is a very impressive individual and a pragmatic progressive with great experience.
you should also check out his video where he talks about his heritage...

He's only half
by A Naani Mousse (not verified) on Mon Jun 23, 2008 11:07 AM PDTIf you check out his website, you'll see he's U.S. Born. While his father was born in Iran, his mother is from Brooklyn. Nothing wrong with any of that at all, but it looks like some people thought something else.
i am ready to send him a check
by Ali Reza Sa'atchi (not verified) on Mon Jun 23, 2008 08:55 AM PDTI am writing out my check for one billion dollars. I support him because he is a Democrat Iranian American.
I will send my support
by Abarmard on Sun Jun 22, 2008 04:33 PM PDTNice to see Iranian born candidate for the Democratic party. I will definately support him.
Dear Mr Talebi
by NIAC supporter (not verified) on Sat Jun 21, 2008 03:32 PM PDTI don't know Mr Shahinfar and I do not live in NY, but if you are endorsing him, that's enough for me.
I will donate to his campaign and wish him the best.
RIGHT MOVE AT LAST
by Ayatoilet (not verified) on Sat Jun 21, 2008 12:39 PM PDTIf NIAC is really promoting Shahinfar's candidacy then this must be their first good move ever. Let's hope NIAC is going to change for the better with this move.
....GO DARIUS....
Where is CASMII?
by Fred on Sat Jun 21, 2008 11:08 AM PDTLets take a looksy, current board member of IAPAC, Namazee, the former AIC partner of Amirahmadi (the disqualified Islamist republic presidential candidate and former boss of NIAC’s lifetime president Trita Parsi) is doing a vigorous promotion and fund raising for Darius Shahinfar. And now NIAC is publically joining the group. Where is CASMII?
