1970s Recording?
by darvishjo (not verified) on Mon Mar 03, 2008 09:10 AM PSTThanks Parham, but I don't think that CD is the right one. The ad shows the old CD cover, but the sample recording on the site is the same one in production now, which actually has a different CD cover. I already bought the wrong CD on another site that was selling the CD with a picture of a different CD cover! I'm not sure why they can't use a picture on their site from the actual CD they're seling, but that seems to be a problem for them.
That was great Darvish Jo
by Anonymous4now on Mon Mar 03, 2008 08:00 AM PSTAslani may have started a cult with this song.

Hi darvishjo!
by Parham on Mon Mar 03, 2008 05:54 AM PSTI still think you should be called Iranian Of The Year because a lot of Iranians on this side of the world could learn from your humble attitude. I'm a major fan of people like yourself.
As for the original Faramarz Aslani album, it was called "Delmashghooliha" and released by CBS in Iran. You won't be able to find that one in record or tape format, but you can find the same recording in CD format here:
//www.eworldrecord.com/agehyerooz.html
And you're right, that's the best version.
All the best.
I Recorded It
by darvishjo (not verified) on Mon Mar 03, 2008 12:46 AM PSTThere are quite a few people who have put covers of various Faramarz Aslani songs on YouTube, including several versions of "Age Ye Rooz". I decided to do it too because a friend suggested it and I do like the song very much. Faramarz Aslani didn't give me permission, but I'm not taking any money for it (nobody has offered me any money anyway and they shouldn't). If Faramarz wanted me to take the video off YouTube I'd do it in an instant. I don't want to do anything with his song he wouldn't like--I have too much respect for him.
If anybody can tell me how to get the original 1970s recording of "Age Ye Rooz," I'd like to get a copy. It is apparently different than the one that is for sale now, and at least one person I know likes it better.
I agree with your comment that my interpretation of the song is poor, and I'm quite embarrassed by it. I tried to improve it in a second version, but I still didn't like it much, except that I added the two missing verses and improved the guitar part. I think all the other YouTube covers are poor too. Nobody even comes close to Faramarz's version, which is so great. I only posted it because it was lots of fun to do and I knew some people would like it. A lot of people just like the fact that a non-Iranian learned to sing an Iranian song.
I will probably learn some others too. It is quite entertaining for me, but it is also hard work!
Iranian of the day? I'm so un-Iranian! I can speak the language a little, yes, but it goes no further than that. I live alone and spend very little time socializing. Iranians are all EXTREMELY tribal and gregarious but that kind of life style is not attractive to me. I'd rather just go my own way and ignore the social network. I'm the last person who should be Iranian of the day, but I know it was meant as a compliment so thank you.
cheers
darvishjo

Ask Faramarz Aslani
by Curious Joe on Sat Mar 01, 2008 09:16 AM PSTA clip of the original song "Aggeh Yeh Rooz" can be seen here: //www.faramarzaslani.com/video.htm
A better audio than the above video clip is on Faramarz' CD with the same title.
Since Faramarz is still alive (and I assume he must have given the copyright of the song to Mr. Darwish Jo), it would we interesting to ask Faramarz what he thinks of Darwish version of the song.
Personally, I think Mr. Jo has done a very poor interpretation of the original song, which was first recorded in Los Angeles in mid 1970s.
Great Job
