Doll "promotes Islam"

Odd scare over talking doll

telegraph.co.uk: The Fisher-Price Little Mommy Cuddle 'n Coo is meant to make realistic baby sounds and occasionally cry out for its "mama". But some parents claim that one of its noises sounds just like "Islam is the Light", and have complained to Mattel, which owns Fisher-Price. Some shops in the US have removed the doll from shelves after complaints from customers, according to reports. It is available in Britain for £19.99. A spokesman for Fisher-Price insisted that the doll was not pushing pro-Islamic messages, adding that the sound some parents were hearing was caused by an accidental distortion of the doll's soundtrack. "The Little Mommy Cuddle 'n Coo dolls feature realistic baby sounds including cooing, giggling, and baby babble with no real sentence structure," a spokesman said. "The only scripted word the doll says is 'mama'. There is a sound that may resemble something close to the word 'night', 'right', or 'light'. "Because the original soundtrack is compressed into a file that can be played through an inexpensive toy speaker, actual sounds may be imprecise or distorted.">>>

You are absolutely right.  I won't deny a word you say.  The media is necessary of course but you'd never hear me say it's not biased.  We were listening to FOX last night (why on earth we had it on that station I have NO idea) and after a few minutes of getting more and more steamed, we looked at each and said "what the hell are we doing?".  It took a couple games of takheh nard to calm us down!

I'm not anti-Israel AT ALL... but the neoconservatives?  No, I can't say what I'd like cause the little fishies will come in and call me a dictator and all sorts of other nasty things.  I despise religious intolerance.  I pity any person who is obviously biased or racist.  But admit that everyone everywhere is a little bit biased or racist about something.  I'm personally biased against onions.  I believe they should be whipped off the face of the earth....:-)

Poor Iran... suffering from the fools who rule her and the hate-mongers who wish to defeat her.

Poor US... suffering from the fools who rule her and the hate-mongers who wish to defeat her.

Philosophy of hate

by Iva (not verified) on

Do you believe everyone is entitled to their opinion? In my opinion, which is based on my own personal experience gained first hand living and breathing islam and seeing how much hate and discrimination islam promotes, Philosophy of islam is truly evil. Anyhow, as satan worshipers are free to practice what they believe in (in USA that is), so do moslems are free to practice what they want as long as their practice doesn’t end causing me a cut throat (Iraq & Afghanistan), a knife in the heart (Netherlands), stoned (Iran), beheaded (Saudi arabia) or my daughters to be put in black bags and referred to as “weak” sex and reduced to be equal to a few camels. Anyhow, I don’t need a doll to tell my children lies … light usually is referred to as the “truth” and “goodness” … two things that I yet to see from that evil philosophy.

And I beg the "moslems" on this site ... I have heard it every arguments that boils down to "what some people do in name of islam is not really islam". Please keep your peace and give that cermon to those who are naive!

Although I am not a beleiver nor do I want to endorse Islam here I think that most of Islam bashers here really have lost it. They make up a picture of Iran that has never been and never will be and to let their anguish out they hit at Islam and muslims.

Hmm.. since the 9/11 the Israel lobby and American neocons have made it clear who is the enemy and worked hard to get it to you through the media. Starting wars and killing indiscriminently does also create enemies.

well, lets think about it some more...

by American Wife on

Farrad02... let's not go overboard, please.  It sounds like it to me, the doll that is.  Do you NOT hear it?  Ok, let's say it does say "Islam is the light".  You're right that that alone should not spread hate or fear.  But for God's sake... you're not suggesting that practically the whole world isn't fearful of Islam.  It sure ain't just the US that thinks so.  Listen to iranian.com.  There is a little bit of anti-Islam going on here my friend.  I'm NOT suggesting anything against Islam or Muslims.  I believe in freedom of religion and freedom of speech.  But it's naive to suggest that there is not a basis for fear.  So come on, it's hardly idiotic or dumb and it is NOT exclusive to Americans!!!!!

Religion and belief should be private as dhh says.  This is hardly private.

Doll Promotes Islam?

by dhh (not verified) on

Idiocy also has no bound.

It is not the part that alarming (if the doll really says that); it is the whole that is out of bound.

Religion and belief is supposed to be private and personal and not part of a propaganda machine.

Which part of "Islam is Light" is going to "spread hatred"?!

by farrad02 on

The idiocy and dumbness of American public can be mind-numbing sometimes!

Assuming that your paranoid ears are hearing it right and the doll is really babbling "Islam is the Light". What part of that sentence is exactly so scary to you? And what about it "spreads fear"?!!

No wonder this country is in so much hurt and chaos!
