Jailed for kissing woman's breast

Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC): A St. John's university student has been sentenced to two months in jail after sexually assaulting a student in a campus elevator. Farhood Azarsina, 25, had earlier pleaded guilty to a charge of sexual assault. He will spend another 18 days in jail, on top of time already served, a provincial court judge ruled January 28.

Azarsina pushed a woman's arms aside and then kissed one of her breasts in an incident at Memorial University's main campus last September. At the time, Azarsina admitted to the incident, but said it was "nothing serious." The Crown had asked for a three-month sentence, but judge David Orr decided on two months. Azarsina was credited with 42 days for the amount of time he had already spent in custody.

Brian Wentzell, the lawyer acting for Azarsina, a graduate engineering student from Iran, had argued for a discharge, on grounds that a conviction could hurt his client's academic career. The victim in the case told the court earlier this month that she has trouble sleeping, and that the experience was devastating.

Obviously the law had dealt with this trouble young man and has rendered him with punishment for the assault committed. Let’s hope that he learn from his mistake and realize that in civilized society when you brake the law, then if cut and in return you will be broken by same law and no Ph.D. will come to your rescue. This nitwit bad behaved man probably has thought street behavior of Tehran is acceptable elsewhere. Sorry trouble man, it is sucks to be you.

He can be a nobel laureaute for all I care, he's still a savage beast who does not respect boundaries or rule of law in a civil society. A woman's body is HER OWN, and she has a right not to be assaulted and remain free from unwanted, unwelcome touching! How would you feel if someone had done that to your sister, mother, or daughter? He admitted to doing something wrong and is serving his sentence. What more is there left to do? Typical Iranian reaction that we want to hang the guy just so we can look better. And if you want to protect the name of Iran, try cleaing up your language on this site.

He was first in his graduating class at Sharif and is getting his Ph.D. at Saint John's, so is this incident supposed to be the end of his life? He is a young kid who did something stupid. He has a whole life ahead of him and I wish him health and success.

I recently returned from a trip to Iran, and I was shocked and horrified to be groped, pinched, and fondled while walking down the street with my father.
