To Reza San- Diego In my

To Reza San- Diego

In my last post I just developed a bit more what I had said the previous one. My argument was that not all social behaviors are a struggle again "oppression". I don't know why it suddenly sounded "one dimensional" to you the second time I said it?

To mash mandali

No, I don't think it was "Dahan Kaji" to the regime...etc because these teens act exactly like their American counterparts who happen to be exposed to the same media advertisements. I have no clue how you concluded from my post that I am suggesting that they go to Friday Prayer instead?!! Please lets keep the conversation at a rational level.

To Anonymous1234

I never said that the Chador was the right alternative to that behavior. Why should we see everything in Black or White?!!

You ever heared the term " DAHAN KAJI " ? that's just that, also they are bunch of teenagers goofing around like teens do all over the world, in daf-e bebakhsheshoon, next time they'll go to Friday prayer or a rowz-e hazrat-e Sakine, or ghombol masaakin, since it fits their age, attitude and energy much better.

Agh Reza from S.D. you're welcome buddy.....     :-)

Ali, Take it easy !

by Reza San- Diego (not verified) on

Ali jaan,

I don't know how old you are but you seem to be thinking in one dimension only,Your own dimension ! Which is OK and very informative...
No matter how many people come forward and try to share a different point of view with you, You continue with your own evaluation, assessment and conclusion at the end !

Ali jaan, I have dedicated my last 18 years of life to travel the world and get to know so many different countries, culture, music, languages & people. My understanding of the world & universe at this stage of life is much versatile compare to a traditional Persian or Muslim/ Arab mentality, especially if it is from inside Iran.

My only suggestion to you friend is that still not too late! Go travel the world ! Not once, but multiple times... We may be able to connect on a different level, if more people on this planet make a radical shift in their level of consciousness !!!

Peace

You asked: "had not there been so much opperssion on those women in Iran , we may have had a diffrernt discusion here on iranian.com today ! Don't you think?"

I agree. And my point is that oppression does not necessarily make people into freedom activists. It is a fallacy to think that every action taken by an young Iranians (students, women or whatever) is a act of resistant oppression . Different social behaviors might have many other roots.

But it seems like every time an Iranian woman does something (no matter what) it is interpreted both by the Western media and the Iranian diaspora as act of defiance against "the regime" or "Islam"...etc

For example, you might remember that a few months ago there was another footage circulating on the internet showing an Iranian woman with a loose scarf beating a chadori woman on the street. Once again everyone was started interpreting the event and were over-joyed by the idea that modern liberal pro-democratic Iranian women do "not taking it anymore" from the "Hezbollahi" women, and fight back when these women try to oppress them!!!!! While the fight might simply have been just over a Taxi or anything else.

People tend to romanticize every event and interpret even the most ugly behaviors in the society (such as fighting on the street, promiscuity...etc) as acts of resistance against tyranny!!

We really need more rationality and reason and address the issues as they are, not as what we wished they were.

Ali , I Agree... :-)

Ali jaan,

Damet garm, Bahaal neveshte boodi....
Dooste azziz, while I agree with you on your comments about the :

"Creating a generation of brainless, tasteless, careless consumers addicted to Hollywood gossip, cheap music, stupid video-games, shopping malls and incapable of any kind of critical thinking."

May I say to you that had not there been so much opperssion on those women in Iran , we may have had a diffrernt discusion here on iranian.com today ! Don't you think?

After 23 years of living in Southern California, I must admit that all you mentioned above has been part of my interaction with people in general here ! Yes, I know, It's pretty sad... I could have moved to Paris again and endulged myself a little longer ! But believe me, even France (with all their uniqueness) are hugly influenced by this Hollywood culture (or lack of it in fact)!

Iranians & especially Iranian Women need to release all their comlexes that have been subjeted upon them by Iranian men for a while... Only after that release we could crteate a True relationship with them as a man !

Peace Brother

And it is exactly this obsession with "the regime" and turning everything into a political issue, that I am criticizing.

A bunch of 15 year old girls emulating cat walks in their high school does not tick "the regime" off in any way!! It is not a sign of liberation nor any kind of civil disobedience.

And lets get real for a moment; what these girls are doing is nothing "out of norm" in today's Iranian society, it not breaking any boundaries and it is not even a "fresh breath of air". It is actually nothing compared to the extreme behaviors of the new generation; young people having random sex, getting drunk on 95% alcohol, and popping ecstasy pills at a type of parties you wouldn't find anywhere else in the world. People here talk about Iran as if it is Saudi Arabia or Afghanistan under the Taliban. At least we Iranians should know better, so lets not fall into clichés!

I don't have a problem with posting this video to show a goofy moment at an Iranian high school (although I don't find it particularly interesting), but I have a problem with people seeing it as any kind of statement by the new generation against the regime!

to ali, the point is that

by sheila.dadvar on

to ali,

the point is that there is no harm in doing what they are doing. they are young teenaged girls who are having fun playing around and having a laugh. i've always heard that khandeh bar har dard-e bi darmaan... then again, it's probably a girl thing which you would not be interested in. guess there is no luck convincing you that not every time that there is camera and music invovled, it's influenced by the evil western cultural invation.

the coments are basically saying that you don't have to resist an oppressed regime to tick them off, a mere joyful moment can easily set them off. that's when everytime someone does something out of norm, you feel a fresh breath of air.

Wake up!! What is good about that?!!!!!!

by Ali (not verified) on

I don't know why you people are so happy about this!! Is this a positive thing that these girls are acting and dressing like the cheapest elements of the Western media?!! and on a stupid "Iranian rap" (!!) on top of that??!

I don't see at all an act of "resistance" against social and political oppression in their attitude!! Just a bunch of extremely confused Iranian teenage imitating whatever they think is "American". These girls are victims of the same propaganda of consumerism that the Western media has been feeding its own teenagers for years; Creating a generation of brainless, tasteless, careless consumers addicted to Hollywood gossip, cheap music, stupid video-games, shopping malls and incapable of any kind of critical thinking.

Wake up people! Your hatred of the I.R is overshadowing every serious issue that our society is facing today, and making you blindly cheer for every wrong behavior that, supposedly, is against the values preached by Islamic Republic!!!!

The Iranians have balls and they challenge authority where ever they are. I remember at Alborz we used to scale the walls to polytechnic and fight the SAVAKIs. Now they will do the same to mullahs.
