Here are two rare recordings of the multi-talented Persian/Iranian diva singing in French. The songs are called "Retour de la Ville" and "J'Entende Crier J'Taime" and they were recorded in the 70s in France. In fact, Googoosh won the first prize at Canne in 1970 and was given a recording contract by Barclay Records. Thanks again to www.googoosh.tv for the images.

Googoosh is One of Iran's Treasures
by ShamshirH (not verified) on Tue Jan 15, 2008 05:36 PM PSTHow many women in this world have been loved by a nation from the age 5 to age 60? How many of them can sing and dance at age 4, sing in 4 languages(English, French, Farsi, Italian) at age 25 and still look sweet and sing beautifully at age 60?
Show me 1.
Her father used to lift her up and put her over the table so she can sing and dance and entertain the people just 2 years after she started talking!
I've never even met her but I consider her part of my family.

by Alcoholic Ananymous (not verified) on Sat Jan 05, 2008 05:58 PM PSTwell, not all wines get better with age. Remember that. A lot of wine become real sour and tarty and crappy when aged, you need to know your wine.
Most California wines should not be aged at all.
Googoosh, is not a wine, she is a sister that we love. She ain't getting better with age trust me. People used to feel the same way about Delkash.
Past is Past.

My sincre regards to you again, Anon.
The moment you started stating the facts earlier the bombardment began.
It is so sad that most Iranins like to be lied to & like to cover their eyes & their ears when somebody turns the lights on or raises his concerns.
People/Singers from Googoosh era are all Per-"Formers" who are frozen in time & are fooling themselves by insulting other people intelligence. If you are not like them - have some brains left & are expressing deep thoughts - then you are ..........
Stay Cool.

by Anon (not verified) on Sat Jan 05, 2008 04:25 PM PSTThis is the most stupid comment ever...it's like George Bush's comment "if you're not pro-war, then you're pro-bin laden"...if we don't like Googoosh, then we MUST be for the IRI? Right!!! Whatever...no wonder Iran is in the state it is in right now...it's because of illogical people like you...
Googoosh is like wine...
by Anony (not verified) on Sat Jan 05, 2008 04:22 PM PSTThat comment doesn't even make sense! Is wine sexy?
too Nice
by Shahrzad (not verified) on Sat Jan 05, 2008 04:11 PM PSTI guess it is ancient and antiquated to say: "If you don't have something nice to say don't say anything at all!"
When my mother was young she was taught that, and she was not part of the "only me and mine" generation.
I on the other hand AM part of this new generation ... unfortunately.
The generation of who gives a .... (damn)!
Sasha is too Nice to call you what you deserve to be called!
By the way I still like Googoosh, not quite the way I used to, but still do.

by Anon (not verified) on Sat Jan 05, 2008 04:10 PM PSTWhy do you think I am not Iranian, because I don't have a lot of misspelled words in my replies or because I don't like Googoosh? Does that make me no Iranian?
It's irrelevant to me what you think; I am not judging Sasha; she started a discourses and I continued it...it's called Freedom Of Speech, deal with it...or does this not mesh with your version of "domekracy"!
Googoosh is a legendary artist with a legendary voice
by Anon (not verified) on Sat Jan 05, 2008 04:01 PM PSTMany Iranians are very proud of Googoosh and her accomplishments. She represents one of the rare “feel good” aspects of our culture that is contemporary. Our other sources of pride mostly come from ancient Persian history. Considering the Islamic revolution’s track record for arresting and murdering artists like her, having Googoosh perform to this day is a precious event for us.
Unfortunately art and music are not highly regarded in the contemporary Iranian culture, therefore, talented artists such as Googoosh are often under undeserved attack. Artists are frequently criticized for things unrelated to their art, such as their lifestyle, clothing, what they disclose or not disclose in interviews, and their views on politics, etc. In Iran even during the Shah’s era, if someone was into singing, playing an instrument, or dancing they would be called derogatory names, *motreb*, etc.
Sadly, instead of appreciating the artists they have, Iranians criticize them until the artist dies. Then and only then some (not all) realize what they lost.
The public over and over fails to judge artists for what they do best, be it playing an instrument, singing, dancing, performing or acting. I have never seen in the West for the public to state, for example, that: “That Frank Sinatra old fart should stop singing, and act like a grand-pa. I am tired of him”. This is just absurd that Iranians condemn their artists that way. When are we going to appreciate art? When are we going to appreciate our talented artists?
What I like about Googoosh is that she is a great performer and cares about her art. It makes me feel good to watch her, especially now, because it is evident that she cares about delivering 200% to the public despite her age. It is so evident that she cares about hitting every note correctly and making it worthwhile. She is a perfectionist and we must learn to appreciate the few great Iranian artists we still have instead of putting them down.
Please keep in mind that if you don’t like Googoosh nobody is forcing you to watch her. Please go watch your own idols, i.e., the Khamenei-Ahmadinejad speeches, instead of attacking our beloved icon.
May Googoosh live and perform for many more years to come.

Googoosh is like a wine
by A.A (not verified) on Sat Jan 05, 2008 03:00 PM PSTTruly, Googoosh is like a wine, as she ages, she get more sexier, and sexier, that is all i want to say.

Rude to insult
by Man From All Cultures (not verified) on Sat Jan 05, 2008 02:32 PM PSTwhy do you intend to insult Sasha?
Assume she posts comments everywhere or responds to Googoosh songs and etc. She is a lady who is enjoying an Iranian site, give her a brake. I like Chinese and Asian women and I love to hang around their sites, I also like South Americans and Mexicans. If I visit their sites, I will do my best to mingle with their culture as much as I can and will be very sensitive to assaults and insults.
Sasha posts her photo, so be it. Again, she is a lady that might like Iranians. She is pretty and she is young.
Give her a chance. Go assault someone else.
Sasha, keep talking, don't worry....
Usted es muy symapthico :)
Sasha,
by Ali Saleh (not verified) on Sat Jan 05, 2008 02:28 PM PSTThose who unnecessarily resort to offensive language and behavior lack logic and are mentally insecure. They are arrogant, intolerant, and irresponsible. The best strategy to deal with them is ignoring them.
Well, grandmothers like
by no thanks (not verified) on Sat Jan 05, 2008 02:03 PM PSTWell, grandmothers like googoosh, madona or else, can't stop appear in sexy outfits and will do this until they are 100 years old.
Now, some people like sexy grannies and would even go to the north pole if they have a concert. good for them, for grannies and cash flow ..

Have checked with your "inner thoughts" lately??
One could be physically alive, be used to the same daily routine life but be spiritually off without knowing it. That is my understanding of "dead" or "alive." Reliving the past was not the point. Visiting the "great dead performers" list does not bring one to his/her inner "solh" unless his/her thoghts grow with time!!!
Stay Alive & Grow Up!!!
Not toxic, just facts ma'am, Sasha
by Anon (not verified) on Sat Jan 05, 2008 01:42 PM PSTLooks like I struck a nerve! I like my anonymity, so I post anonymously...you claim you don't like the attention in your post on Ladan's Angels, "personally I would not want the attention, life is too tough already" you claim, but you thrive on it...hence the "attention whore" remark. Who cares if people confuse you with another writer on this site????? If nothing else, at least be HONEST with YOURSELF!!!!
My, my Anon...you sound a little toxic today
by Sasha on Sat Jan 05, 2008 01:34 PM PSTI guess you turn to personal attacks. By the way it is illogical to assume I post every where because it is not humanly possible. Like you said in this country we have freedom to do and say as we will. So, why are you now trying to limit my freedom. Yes, I do have a life.
I also, posted my picture because I got tired of people confusing me with another writer. By the way feel free to upload your own picture and use your real name. There are many writers on this website that do exactly that, they have their real pictures and names on this website. So, are you also going to call them "attention whores"?
solh
Sasha
by Anon (not verified) on Sat Jan 05, 2008 01:27 PM PSTYou are here, and there, and everywhere...you commented on "Landan's Angel" pictures and say you would not want that much attention because life is tough enough but you are an "attention whore". Why else would you post your picture and comment on every freaking post, and every response there to everywhere on this site...one cannot escape this site without viewing and reading your remarks, they are everywhere...you need to get a life instead of spending your time in front of your screen and behind the keyboard... "solh" this!!!

by Sasha on Sat Jan 05, 2008 01:19 PM PSTMany of those concert goers are not Iranians trying to relive their past. The concert goers are from many different cultures and languages. You have your "dead list" and I have my "excellent performers list".
I am also very much alive. :o)

Bravo!
by Anon (not verified) on Sat Jan 05, 2008 01:18 PM PSTWell put sir! That's my sentiments exactly! They pay big bucks for silly little concerts devoid of any artistic value.
No Playa Hata Here, except you!
by Anon (not verified) on Sat Jan 05, 2008 01:15 PM PSTLast time I checked, this was a country with some freedom of expression/speech left. You are free to like and I am free to dislike Googoosh. Don't mistake my dislike of Googoosh for hate. I am tired of being bombarded on this and other sites with Googoosh, her "accomplishments" and her "achievements", and I can express that here and on other sites. Others are free to "discover" her. There is no hate, and no hate list. You sign off your comments with "solh", but you spew hate like venom in response to every message that does not agree with your point of view.
Sasha........................
by Fariborz (not verified) on Sat Jan 05, 2008 01:14 PM PSTSasha............................
The said list was not a "hate list" but rather a "dead list."
No wonder those concerts gets sold out since most Iranians are the "Dead Loving" people as they always travel back to 2500 years ago & even furher.
By paying big bucks for such stupid concerts you can not bring the time back to 50 yrs ago.
Good to Be Alive!!!
Just because.......
by Sasha on Sat Jan 05, 2008 12:56 PM PSTJust because you don't like them, does not mean they don't have a fan base. Some of them have sold out concerts wherever they go.
So keep on a hatin' because the rest of us will continue to listen to her and buying her albums. :o)
Every year new people discover her and the rest of the singers on your hate list. So, they will continue to have an ever growing fan group.
