Chief Executive Officer and General Manager of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power and also happens to be the husband of novelist Gina Nahai. He is best known for his controversial "toilet to tap" idea for Los Angeles as well as coming under fire recently after an audit of his home found he was using more than the average amount of water despite the fact that he is a strong proponent of environmentally sound water usage. He was the subject of a lengthy profile in the last edition of Los Angeles Magazine, a very interesting article where he talks about his roots as an Iranian immigrant.
