by Free Thinker (not verified) on Sun Sep 28, 2008 04:18 AM PDTAre you serious? From what you have written, this guy, Hooman, is so attached to the Khatami faction that has been chosen as Khatami's trusted interpreter (not because of his knowledge of Arabic-Farsi, after all as he admits it he has been out of Iran most of his life). So naturally his views are NOT IMPARTIAL. Even his short film shows this. Are the people going about their daily business without the scrutiny of the moral police? You must be kidding. Mr Majd should not film the steets of Tehran from the back seat of a motor bike. Instead he should have walked the streets of the city and filmed the people's dialy struggle to earn a living under the ever watchful eyes of the Pasdars and morality agents.
His book and his film ARE COMPLETE WHITEWHASHES.
HOOMAN MAJD IS ANOTHER KHATAMITE REGIME APOLOGIST. PERIOD.
dear hooman

Dear Hooman: I would
like to thank you so much for your greats responses to Terry Gross. She is so openly pro Zionist/ pro Israeli
that has made me so sick that I do not listened to her any more. I usually turn
the radio off when she comes on, but this time I am glad I did not. Your great response to her pro Israeli
questions did shut her up; she heard from you what she did not wish to hear. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Kudos
by Kia Dav San Jose CA (not verified) on Sat Sep 27, 2008 01:24 AM PDTI heard Hooman Majd on NPR's radio programming and was immediately amazed by his articulate expression of the Iranian American culture and identity. I feel like I have found a positive person to look up to in the current unsettling political climate. He beautifully describes how we Iranian born citizens of the United States feel without compromising either side too much. I hope to hear more from Mr. Majd in the media and the public scene.
Another great one Party

Hooman is the Man!
by Anonymous Admirer (not verified) on Fri Sep 26, 2008 04:08 PM PDTIt is so unfair to Hooman to describe him as a mere journalist, author and interpreter. He comes from a Blue Blood of Iranian true aristocracy. He is so well connected that I can't begin to tell. This is but a humble tribute to this true bridge between the two seemingly opposing cultures.
Even his own publishers fail to do him justice by giving this colorful figure of our time a deserving introduction:
"Hooman Majd, the son of an Iranian diplomat and the grandson of an ayatollah, grew up in exile, yet he also remained closely attached to his homeland. "
Here are his true resons for a claim to fame:
Hooman was born in Iran, educated in the British public schools and, eh, Univeristy of Southern California!! He dabbled in record producing, film making and, writing op-eds,
//www.goodreads.com/book/show/3488337.The_Aya...
and, eh, of course interpretting for his cousin the ex-president Mr Khatami. Well, being the gandson of an Aytollah (the last Seyed Kazem Assar) is not without its pay offs. Then Khatami recommended him to Ahmadinejad.
By the way Hooman's artistic flare comes from him auntie: The late Shusha Guppy. Fortunately, Hooman has not yet gien into singing :)
This guy has a lot to offer, Believe me his is the only chance we Iranians may have in getting americans believe what the Ayatollah say - after all Hooman has the art of being "diplomatic with words" in his genes.
Thanks Party Girl
by IRANdokht on Fri Sep 26, 2008 03:50 PM PDTI was listening to him speak to Terry Gross last night and couldn't figure out what his last name was exactly. I didn't listen to the whole program, so I wanted to google him and find out more about this man, his background, his life and his ideas... he sounded fascinating to me.
He's been translating for Ahmadinejad but not believing in his ideology, he said sometimes it was hard to keep a straight face while translating him in the UN.
you saved me time and found him ;-) Thank you!
did I ever tell you how you rock!?
IRANdokht
PS: (Funny he doesn't look 30 or did I minsunderstand Terry? )
Thanks!
