Photo of Houssein "Hoder" Derakhshan in downtown Jerusalem in 2006. Jerusalem Post: An Iranian blogger who visited Israel at least twice in the past three years, and who was twice interviewed here by The Jerusalem Post about his efforts to "humanize" Israel for Iranians and vice-versa, has reportedly been arrested in Teheran and admitted to spying for Israel. According to a report in Jahan News, which is close to Iran's intelligence community, quoted by the Middle East analyst Meir Javedanfar, the blogger, Hossein Derakhshan, returned to Iran about three weeks ago, having previously been based in Canada. "Prior to his return," Javedanfar writes on his middleeastanalyst.com Web site, Derakhshan had "started attacking [former Iranian president] Ayatollah [Hashemi] Rafsanjani in his blog. It is possible that he fell foul of a power struggle within Iran." >>>

apparently
by MRX1 (not verified) on Tue Nov 18, 2008 02:26 PM PSTapparently even IRI found him to be boring! one good thing from his arrest is we will not see his stupid writings in here for a while.
Get out soon
by Jahanshah Javid on Tue Nov 18, 2008 02:26 PM PSTI don't know whether this report is true or not. If it's true, maybe in the future he'll show sympathy for innocent people thrown into jail for expressing their views. Hope he gets out soon and unharmed.
Espionage
by Anonymous33 (not verified) on Tue Nov 18, 2008 02:24 PM PSTHe could very well be a spy. Humanizing Israel in Iran is political suicide. Anyone would be smarter than that, unless there is a hidden goal.
Unfortunate
by Darius Kadivar on Tue Nov 18, 2008 01:56 PM PSTSorry to hear this. I hope he will be freed soon. Needless to say I did not share his views but he was expressing them in his own original way. The Freedom of Expression has a price. It is wierd though since he was rarely critical of the Regime in Tehran. So I wonder why he would have been a threat to them in the first place.
In anycase I certainly wish to see him liberated soon.
