whoa....
by American Wife (not verified) on Wed Aug 13, 2008 12:12 PM PDTdoesn't have anything to do with integrity?????? Ok, lets define the word then and see...
Integrity is the concept of basing of one's actions on an internally consistent framework of principles. Depth of principles and adherence of each level to the next are key factors. One is said to have integrity to the extent that everything one does is derived from the same core set of values. While those values may change, their consistency with each other and with the one's actions determine the degree of integrity.
integrity can be expressed as personal honesty: acting according to one's beliefs and values at all times. The term can emphasize the "wholeness" or "intactness" of a moral stance or attitude (harking back wittingly or unwittingly to the etymological parallels of the word in the Latin intactus, meaning "untouched"). Relevant views of wholeness may also emphasize commitment and sincerity. Structural integrity in engineering is derived from this concept.
Integrity can be seen as a virtue in that accountability and moral responsibility are necessary tools for maintaining consistency between one's actions and one's principles, methods and measures, especially when an expected result appears incongruent with observed outcome.
ok then... let's review some of the critical words here. HONESTY. VALUES. PRINCIPLES.
You can argue with me until the sun goes down... through the night...and until the sun rises... but please do not try to tell me that forsaking your vows... ie... FUCKING ANOTHER WOMAN OTHER THAN YOUR WIFE... is not a sign of intergrity.
If you don't believe in marriage... fine, don't get married. Or have a clear understanding of what marriage is with your wife. But I believe that the majority of married people DO respect the commitments of those vows. If you and your wife have an open marriage... more power to you. But I'm also quite sure that HIS wife did not... thus the utter contempt he displayed towards his vows to her and the complete disrespect he showed her.
Your comment that he didn't lie about it is simply ridiculous. Unless of course you subscribe to the "if you just avoid answering the question, it's not a lie" theory. In any case... he absolutely positively DID lie about it time and time again.
As far as the why's and wherefore's of it coming up and when... who knows. This is politics. And exactly how is it critical now? He's not running for President... or even VP. It's about as UN an issue as it could be.
Yes, I'm a little excited here... it's pretty obvious...lol. And I'm not trying to go off on YOU. I respect that you have a different opinion. It's just something I feel very strongly about.
Personally, I don't give that rat's ass about Clinton... or Kennedy... or the thousands of other public figures who cheat. In some ways, I agree with what you're saying... it really doesn't have anything to do with their capabilities of running the country. But it does have everything to do with integrity and honesty. I don't believe everything that ANY politician says, democrat or republican. But I need to at least know that the core of honor is there.
Sorry, but it means everything to me.

by Darius Kadivar on Wed Aug 13, 2008 10:44 AM PDTWhy is it then that these stories come up in the last minute and with the Republican Party's Benediction in most cases ? Then why didn't they impeach Bill Clinton if you think it had to do with integrity or Why Do they refuse to put Dick Chesnay on the grill regarding his arms sales in Irak and all the dirty money he is making with the life of all the American Tax Payers serving in the US military ? Edwards looks and sounds foolish but come on how many times has this KKK mentality of slandering and avoiding the real issues resurfaced in American Political Life ?
F ...G another women out of Bedlock is no one's business and has nothing to do with integrity. Fisrt and foremost he did not Lie. He was challenged by accusations and responded. Never asking to mention or humiliate the woman who is simply looking for attention. If now Violence or Rape was involved that would be different.
This is Ridiculous, Do you remember Gary Hart and his campaign photo with a Playmate ? Same thing goes with Royals like Prince Charles and Diana. All this feeds the Paparazzi Press and You are the first to feed on it. Nothing wrong with that just don't mix issues.
This is a Private Matter. If he had made the relation public I would understand the curiosity but when it comes out of the blue just by coincidence before the Elections its truly a mockery of the voters intelligence and of Democracy.
I'm begining to Regret Good Ol' King Henry VIII and his 6 or 7 Wives. He should have Beheaded them all. LOL
My humble opinion,
D

by American Wife (not verified) on Wed Aug 13, 2008 09:49 AM PDTI think you're missing the whole point here. I don't think anyone really gives a rat's ass about their sex lives. For me, personally, it's the fact that he lied so convincingly. It's the trust factor. Fool me once, shame on you... fool me twice, shame on me. No... you lie over and over and over again and then expect me to trust you? I don't think so. It's a matter of having integrity and that DOES have everything to do with being a leader.
Hypocrites!!!!!!
by Appalled (not verified) on Wed Aug 13, 2008 08:37 AM PDTWhat is the responsibility of the women who sleep with these men knowing full well that these guys are married, have children and in the case of poor Elizabeth Edwards suffering from cancer? They are total and complete hypocrites! I don't know of any of these men that slept with other women who were married or had children, does anyone? This makes these women not only the hypocrites that they are but guilty of ruining the lives of these families and in my opinion that is unforgivable! Lets place the blame where it belongs and don't crucify the men only.
Jesus When will Americans Grow Up ?
by Darius Kadivar on Wed Aug 13, 2008 04:38 AM PDTI really can't understand how the Average American can be so easily influenced by such mud slinging at every election ...
As if Sex and someone's private life had anything to do with one's competence, qualifications or intelligence.
Given that American voters are meant to elect the president of the Number One Super Power in the World and therefore have a say on the future Policy to be undertook internationally, I suggest that the Average American be FORBIDDEN TO VOTE. ;0)
If this peasant type mentality should determine the future of so many nations in the world which depend on the America as a Beacon of Hope and Democracy, I think its high time to even Kick America out of the United Nations or at least put a Comic like John Stewart in the White House as President ( he would do a better job).
This is really ridiculous. To think that the Poor Shah had to deal with these idiots Democrats and Republicans confounded. A Peanut Dealer like Carter on one hand and a Power Hungry, paranoiac like Nixon ( but well at Least Nixon was for Peace and proved it in Vietnam and China).
But what is terrible is how such silly issues overshadow more serious ones in America.
I ask you What did the September 11Th tragedy teach the Average American ? NOTHING !
Hope I am wrong ...
Anonypishi nailed it. It's
by skatermom (not verified) on Tue Aug 12, 2008 09:02 PM PDTAnonypishi nailed it. It's so very strange to me. The more seemingly "normal" people seem to have such weird lives. I guess regardless of whether you're Republican or Democrat these guys just can't keep it in their pleated khaki dockers.
Lot of horny Republican gays and straights
by Anonypishi (not verified) on Tue Aug 12, 2008 06:41 PM PDTLet's see Mark Foley, Ted Haggard, Larry Craig .... and refresh my memory I am sure I have left out others.
McMain is not gay but he left his crippled wife for a blonde 20 years his junior. Newt Gingrich, Rudy Juliani, Bob levingston and many many more as cheaters. The champions of family values just keep us entertained and God bless them.
