End-of-quarter closing speech during the last lecture (2006). The inspirational part starts around the 1:30 mark. It's kind of like the CS version of Robin Williams in Dead Poet's Society but not quite as theatrical.

Hajiagha they ask you for grade 12 if you want a degree.
by Anonymouse on Fri Mar 14, 2008 08:55 AM PDTIf you don't want a degree (madrak) and just want to sign up for classes in a community school or adult education classes, you can.
There are many art classes and people sign up for them as a hobby. Many people don't care about a degree and just want to take some drawing classes in arcylic or watercolor, ete.
Perhaps you can sign up for the class and then tell the students you can teach them at a cheaper price?!
Or you can find a date in an art class. Many people go to these classes to pick up a date and they don't care either madrak or art.
I'm reminded of that joke that a student in pottery (goldoon or ajor sazi) asked his teacher (oosa) if he can sit and blow the pot (foot kardan) to get it cold after it comes out of the over (tanoor). The teacher said, sure. The student asked if he can lie down and blow. The teacher said yes. The student asked if he can lie on the side and blow. The teacher said, blow the damn thing blow it any way you want. Die and blow.
Tow bedam, bemir-or bedam!
Now it is your turn Hajiagha, go to school for english or art or anything, bemir-o bedam! don't look for an excuse not to go.
Well done Mehran Khan
by ramintork on Fri Mar 14, 2008 05:15 AM PDTNo wonder why the silicon valley is full of Iranian tech wiz kids.
They probably have mentors like Mehran Khan to look up to.

NP and P complexity.
by KingReza13 (not verified) on Thu Mar 13, 2008 07:40 PM PDTP != NP is not provable or unprovable. I remember when my prof was teaching these stuff, she suggested if any of you guys prove P = NP or that P != NP the university will give you a Ph.D, even if it's your first year.

by Al Sefati (not verified) on Thu Mar 13, 2008 10:47 AM PDTI got my degree in CS from UCI and I always questioned why do I have to take so many math classes whereas there are people who are in this field without knowing this stuff and are making bank!
I know now but I wished I had a lecturer like this then.
