I KNEW she was PERSIAN!
by MAR (not verified) on Wed Aug 06, 2008 10:41 PM PDTWow! I kept thinking this girl looks like(the coookie cutter nose job and too much make-up) and talks like(as though her mouth is paralyzed) a typical Iranian-American girl but because I never heard the name Nekisa before assumed she was Israeli or something like that, but definitely middle eastern.
I'm watching the show now and said to myself this girl HAS to be Iranian! She is just like half the girls in Beverly Hills and the Valley.
And low and behold I was right. You can spot a Persian from a mile away, lol.
p.s. I am one too

by Anonymous-that (not verified) on Sun Jul 27, 2008 10:27 PM PDTI never said I was an expert...you are assuming that...so please don't add words to something that is not there.
I simply made an observation from the show, and I am entitled to that and therefore can post that observation on this site. Not only that but she being in the bottom 3 most of the time would agree with my observations.
At the same time, I do agree with Anonymous1233455 opinion that when someone states that graduating from college is a pre-requisite to be a coffee servant and you calling him/her an elitist when he or she is pointing out something that is incorrect shows exactly how much you do know about this world. It is 2008 not 1968 as you said...when someone says something wrong then people do have a right to point it out without being called an elitist or an expert.
good luck Nekisa!

Wow! anonymous that who
by skatermom (not verified) on Sat Jul 26, 2008 10:43 PM PDTWow! anonymous that
who new you were such an expert on coiffures. Is there something you're not sharing with the rest of us. Perhaps may be that framed degree from Newark College of beauty.
To Skatermom...She's talented??
by Anonymous-that (not verified) on Sat Jul 26, 2008 09:00 PM PDTI've seen her hair styles...and they are horrible. They do not even come close to the other people. Yes, she made it on the show...yes she's not off...yet...eventhough she's come close, but there are so many people who are way more talented than her.
I have nothing against the profession of being a hairstylist...there are some damn good ones out there...but it seems they just chose a pretty girl who really can barely style to go on the show but I guess they got a "college graduate/hairstylist"
I really don't think the person was talking against her as a hairstylist or judging what she is...he is judging what she said and he made that clear.
Saying graduating from college is a pre requisite for getting someone's coffee?? And then you actually defending it? It sounds like you are from 1968 rather than 2008 as maybe back then that is what happened to women but not now.
To anonymous 12345, Why are
by skatermom (not verified) on Fri Jul 25, 2008 07:07 PM PDTTo anonymous 12345,
Why are you such an elitist? Iranians like you should stop sizing people up based on their degree and or pedigree. How many times has an Iranian heard: Koja madresseh rafteh? or Familesh Keeyeh? We're now sooooo passed that. This may have been standard in 1968 but not in 2008. Let's forget about the superficial coments like she's gorgeos ('cause she Is) or that she's talented ('cause she is) but after watching a few episodes she seems like a genuinly sweet person. I for one worship the ground my stylist walks on. I don't feel that way about my lawyer or my ob/gyn. If it wasn't for my magician, I mean beautician, my eyebrows would be one and not in a good way and my grays would be many. So hail all you fabulous hairstylists. For without you the Persian woman would like a hag.
Cool!
by IRANdokht on Fri Jul 25, 2008 03:17 PM PDTI think Iranians are the only ethnic group that even our hairdressers are college graduated. I know one of my friends who just bought her own salon has a bachelor's degree too.
Nekisa is a beautiful young lady who's obviously very talented and good at what she does.
Good one Niki and best of luck to Nekisa

She is very smart
by John Carpenter III (not verified) on Fri Jul 25, 2008 09:44 AM PDTI agree she is very smart and should win. She is also pretty.
Hairdresser?
by Anonymous1233455 (not verified) on Fri Jul 25, 2008 09:08 AM PDTHairdresser thinks that coming out of college you carry someones coffee? Yeah maybe if you can't get a job you end up taking a coffee carrying job but please there are plenty of us who have come out of college, after working hard through college, and taken on great positions with real responsibilities that make a difference in the world. Admit it you are a hairdresser because you couldn't do anything else. Lucky for you you are pretty which means people will let you get away with that horrendous story.

A Fabulous Iranian of The Day
by Party Girl on Thu Jul 24, 2008 11:10 PM PDTDear Nekisa:
I am very happy for you. You are a very special woman, full of joy and enthusiasm about your profession. You are beautiful and sweet, too. Though your achievements makes me proud, even if you didn't win competitions you would still be a very special Iranian in my view. Your courage and openness is commendable. I hope you are not offended by what some fellow-readers have said here. In my humble opinion, any Iranian could be an Iranian of the Day, if we find a lead on him or her which can be presented to others. Best of luck to you in your business and in your life and party on!

To the anonymous persons who criticized this Iranian of the Day
by Niki Tehranchi on Thu Jul 24, 2008 04:19 PM PDTIranian of the Day is neither a prize or an award. It features Iranians from all walks of life, some more educated than others, some more successful than others. I am not sure why you think this young lady so unworthy. I hope you are not one of those sibilli hillbillies who think a woman who is a hairdresser is automatically a whore. (Hence your comparison to a porn star). I have nothing but love for people in the beauty industry, hairdressers, manicurists, eyebrow shapers. They work hard, and they bring joy and beauty to their clients. Oftentimes, your stylist is also a bit like your therapist. The last episode of the TV show this young lady is on featured women who through an unfortunate disease have lost all their hair and the stylists competed to shape the nicest wig possible for them. There were lots of tears shed. They did not even worry about a competition. They wanted to help these women. This young woman beat out hundreds of others to make it to the show and display her skills as a hairstylist. She ownw her own business and most importantly, she is fantastically happy with what she does for a living. Not many of us could say that (including the ones with alphabet soup of titles after their name).
Wow,...makes me soooo proud
