Photo gallery shut down

Peyman Hooshmandzadeh's work "offensive to religious sanctities"

Iran's Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance shuts down Asar photo gallery in Tehran for displaying works that are contrary to Islamic dignity and offensive to religious sanctities. These works belonged to 39-year-old Peyman Hooshmandzadeh. His signature art is generally known to defy and provoke peoples perceptions of their place in the fast-paced world.

Shazdeh Iraj Mirza's poem said it all, 80 years ago

by Shazde Asdola Mirza on

you've got to give them credit

by IRANdokht on

with all the restrictions on arts and thoughts in IR, people are continuing to express themselves through their art and others support them by running art galleries!

Imagine the courage it takes to invest in an art gallery in Iran...
We should support them in any way we can, even if it is by bringing up their names and the news.

Thanks Mehrdad

Great photographs

I am a bit familiar with his work and enjoy his vision. How great would have been if we could stand strong united and voice their discontent with this kind of censorship.

Censorship brings fame

When great work such as this is banned it only brings it into focus.

Mehrdad Thanks for the posting.
