Rudaki and Ferdowsi Speech!

by Pamir (not verified) on

Actually, Afghani and Tajik Persian accents are closer to the way Rudaki and Ferdowsi talked than the way Tehranis talk. After all, modern Dari Persian originated in Greater Khorasan and Khwarazm lands where present areas in northeast Iran and Afghani and Tajik lands are located.

Tehrani accent is somewhere in between Afghani and Esfahani (or even Kermani) accents. The word for child in "bacha" (or "bach-cha") in Afghani and "beche" ("bech-che") in Esfahani. In Tehrani it is "bache" ("bach-che") somewhere in the middle of the former two. The word for eye has changed from "chashm" to "cheshm". If your dad wants you to do your homework, you say "Be rooye ch-e-shm". But if you want to use the short version you still say "Ch-a-shm, bâbâ joon"! So is it Esf-A-hân or Esf-E-hân or even Esfehoon?

The words for receipt and arrive have changed from "rasid" and "rasidan" to "resid" and "residan", etc. Because of Tehrani accent it would be awkward to say that I am eating "nân" but rather I am eating "noon" (bread). Lot of words that end in "-ân" in their last syllables are changed to "-oon" by Tehroonis, Esfehoonis, Kermoonis and some other Iroonis!

When Esfahanis and Kermanis change too many "a"'s into "e"'s (that Tehranis have not okayed yet) they sound awkward and uneducated to Tehranis. I am sure Afghanis and Tajiks feel the same way towards Tehrani speech.

I am not Fariborz

by Alborzi (not verified) on

I am sure he is a fine guy. You can't be an MD, and have people that you did not care for, cry, and not have
empathy. I wish the idiot was MD, he would not say this stupid things, people are flesh and blood and they need
to improve their society. To me the defining time was when they interviewed the girl who was in the students who took over American embassy. She was apologetic. People who think their opposition should be killed are idiots. People who think the genocide in Iraq was good are blood sucker soosools. OO

Faribors Alborzi, M.D. ?

Are Alborzi and Faribors Maleknasri, M.D., the same person? Their english sounds the same, and both make as much sense.

You are mixing the concepts

by Alborzi (not verified) on

The ideal of a culture is baked into a person at an early age. That makes a Hindu or Shiite and its unusual when its totally removed from a person. I have more memories and nostalgia when I traveled to Iran. My son's and wife would have liked Hawaii better.

But there is a different category. My image of Iran was frozen in time in 1973. The real Iranians can drive 5 abreast in 3 lane highway, they know to wear their rossary in 110F and they will not get surprised when they have to pay billions of rials for house.
Before you can decide what is good for them, go ahead and put up with their challenges for a year. Its kind of the Indian saying, you need to walk a mile in their moccasins.

Dear Friend:

Mohammad Ali Jamalzadeh, the greatest Persian storyteller of our times, lived only 13 years of his 102(or so) years of his life, actually in Iran. Is he less Iranian than the rest of us?

The flame of Iranian heritage is kept alive by Iranians living in Iran, as well as those living abroad. Noone can deprive an Iranian from his nationality without his consent.

Respectfully,

Ali P.

Why criticize the accent

by Alborzi (not verified) on

You see, in a round about way I was trying to point that they may think of themselves as Iranian, but they are as Iranian as Afghans. Its commendable that they know two languages, but Iranians had to deal with SCUDS roosari/toossari. These guys live in the picture they took of Iran in their mind. That Iran ra bad bord.
Its painful but the reality is the people of Iran and their struggle. They don't need soosools to say joftesh kon.

English 101 for Alborzi!

by Pissed Off (not verified) on

This is what Alborzi said:

"Its hilarious, their accent is worst than Afghani's."

It should be: IT'S hilarious, their accent is WORSE than ...!

That means he made two BIG mistakes in one very SHORT sentence!!!

Cheap shot!

by Ali P. on

As hard as we all have worked to learn a new language, and as long as we have lived abroad, most of us have an accent, speaking our second language. Many of these LA Iranian are born there, and still speak Persian, because they love their Iranian heritage. So what if they have an accent?

Do you mean soosooli

by Alborzi (not verified) on

Its hilarious, their accent is worst than Afghani's. You say Alborzi now stop with soosool thing.
Une momento children. we need to find out what makes them soosools. Compare them with basij's. They go to front unprepared , maybe even no uniforms and weapons.
These guys have designer uniforms and weapons, but the basijis have guts and courage. These guys like Shah will fill a jar of Iranian soil and take the flight to LA and get on the BMW, don't forget about Pahlavi concert too.
