by JamesR (not verified) on Thu May 28, 2009 11:43 AM PDTYou can believe whatever you want. See if I care.
Just consider my main point - which you have ignored in its entirety - and think about it carefully.
Iran is no superpower and its military is 3rd at best. You are isolated. Not even Syria or Hezbollah will come to your aid if Israel attacks. Your economy is in shambles. Your mad leaders are looking for a fight to legitimise their power like they did with the prolonged 8 year Iraq-Iran war. Israel is it. And they are not kidding around.
To Our American Wannabe!!

There is a Persian term that starts with "Z" and ends with "K" that put together, Mr. James R., the wanna be American, giving you "ZERESHK!!"
If you believe that anyone with two cells in their brains believes that you are an American, I would like to repeat: ZERESHK!!

by JamesR (not verified) on Thu May 28, 2009 09:17 AM PDTLook, I've just had it with some of these LA iranians who think that by voting you are appeasing your mullah leader.
I'm an American but I know a thing or two about the politics of Iran. Iranians are generally idealists. You wont be able to get your country back with that kind of attitude.
Consider this a friendly warning (even though I wasn't before, for which I apologise). Do not make the mistake of boycotting this years elections.

by Parham on Thu May 28, 2009 08:45 AM PDT"JamesR" is probably not even American. In common terms, he's just a "troll" against whose messages there is no rule on iranian.com.

by hamsade ghadimi on Thu May 28, 2009 08:33 AM PDTno matter how hard we try we could never be as dumb and narrow-minded as you are. you obviously have iranian roots, otherwise with the redneck tone of your message you wouldn't give a crap who bombs whom in the middle east. if your version of democracy is intimidation through name-calling, get off this site and go listen to your rush limbaugh. dang.
to those who say they are all the same and will not vote
by JamesR (not verified) on Thu May 28, 2009 06:27 AM PDTHow would you like it when Israel bombed the shit out of iran and got us Americans involved as well?

In Iran's governing structure, Presidents do not hold much power
by different name, same shiat (not verified) on Wed May 27, 2009 09:27 PM PDTIran is strictly governed by Velayat-e-faqih.
The President does not have much power, and is not much more than a symbolic figure head.
The power is all in the hands of the Supreme Leader, i.e., Khamenei. Executive powers, such as commandment of the armed forces and declaration of war and peace, remain in the hands of the Supreme Leader. Khamenei can dismiss the president and prevent the legitimation of any law.
People can rally behind Mousavi but he is not going to be much different than Ahmadinejad. Politicians will simply promise anything during their campaigns to get elected. This is in particular easy to do in Iran as people are not free to criticize their president and therefore, the president will get away with saying anything to get elected.
To put it simply, if Mousavi were much different from Ahmadinejad and the likes of him, the Guardian Council would have already disqualified him from running, as they have disqualified many "moderates" in the past.
Here is a clip to refresh everyone's memory...and show how politicians will say anything just to get elected:
