Four major optics societies have united to call on Iran’s political leaders to allow the release of Omid Kokabee, an optics student detained in the country on charges of espionage.
The presidents of the International Society for Optics and Photonics (SPIE), the Optical Society (OSA), the International Commission for Optics (ICO) and the European Optical Society (EOS) all signed a letter addressed to Ayatollah Ali Khamene’i, via Iran’s United Nations ambassador, Mohammad Khazaee.
