The League of Iranian-American Voters has taken notice of the results of the survey regarding U.S. sanctions against Iran conducted by THE IRANIAN. We need your input.

The following is a temporary mission statement from the League of Iranian-American Voters. We hereby request that you find a few moment to review this document and make any suggestions you may have.

The League will hold this article open to public comment untill October 31, 1997 so that the final draft will reflect the input of the community members. We request that you forward this document to all those whom you believe will be interested.

Those responding will be notified of our website, currently under construction.

MISSION STATEMENT

The League of Iranian-American Voters (or Anjomane Raydahandeghane Iranitabar , ARA ) is a nonpartisan and nonprofit political organization, which seeks to encourage dynamic and informed participation of the Iranian-American community in government, to arouse interest and to effect changes in related public policy through education and advocacy.

STATEMENT OF INTENTIONS

The objective of the League of Iranian-American Voters is to facilitate the continuous revitalization and viability of the Iranian-American community through its' members,

1. Although our organization is political in nature, it will remain non-partisan, accepting all Iranian-Americans regardless of creed, gender or origin.

2. We shall attempt to achieve solutions in the interest of the community, at all levels of legislative levels, after judicious research and with the advice and consent of the membership.

3. We shall seek to promote the participation of the Iranian-American community in the democratic and voting process, in the United States.

4. We shall pursue the vigorous commitment of members to support political involvement of other community members.

5. We shall support individual rights, and value of diversity, as primary elements of democracy.

6. We shall encourage grassroots activities, by members at local, state or federal levels.

7. We shall hold in high esteem the power of collective decision making divergent ideas.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS & STAFF

The board of directors and the staff of the League of Iranian-American Voters covenants to:

1. Pursue the duties of their office with honesty, zeal and professionalism

2 Perform openly and competently in discharging their duties in order to meet the needs of those we serve, both members and the public.

3. Be the standard bearer in seeking new members and to take the initiative in seeking diversity in membership.

4. Recognize, endorse and employ the ancient Iranian heritage of the members in order to pave the path for a flourishing community in the future.
