 A Thai man inspects a Madagascar Giant Hissing Cockroach at a university in Bangkok August 21, 2002, after authorities banned the sale and ownership of the popular pet over concerns that they may spread diseases. Health officials have begun raiding shops and farms that distribute the insects, which grow up to 10 centimetres (four inches) in length, three times longer than the domestic variety found in Thailand.
