 The University of Queensland's 'HyShot', a hypersonic 'scramjet', blasts off from its launch pad at Woomera, in the south Australian desert on July 30, 2002. Australian scientists successfully launched the hypersonic 'scramjet' but said they would have to wait for more data before being able to claim the world's first successful test flight of the revolutionary engine.
