
Dr. Azimi has been Director of Infectious Diseases at Children's Hospital Oakland
since 1978. In addition to clinical responsibilities, she has overseen a very active
research program in infectious diseases, including clinical investigation of new
antimicrobial agents and vaccines against bacterial and viral infection in pediatric
patients. Over the years, she has evaluated many anti-infective agents, including
many new cephalosporins, for use in pediatric patients. She was a member of the Anti-Infective
Drug Advisory Committee of the FDA from 1994 to 1998 and now serves as a consultant
