AFP: Opposition leader Mehdi Karroubi is prepared to go on trial over the unrest which followed Iran’s disputed presidential poll in June 2009 but wants the trial open to the public, his Web site reported Monday. His offer came after Tehran prosecutor Abbas Jaffari Dolatabadi threatened Friday to file criminal charges against opposition leaders such as Karroubi and Mir Hussein Mousavi for their “seditionist” role in the post-vote violence. Stop it with the Emam already

But their constant reference to Khomeini and his era as some kind of ideal which we should look up to or be proud of is out of line with today's realities. Any opposition figure who remains loyal to Khomeini cannot be taken seriously as someone who could lead the country towards democracy.
