This cartoon is based on the following Iranian expression.
SAG DAR-E KHOONE-YE SAAHAABESH SHIR ME-SHE
A dog becomes a lion in front of its master's house.
I believe Lee Bollinger, the president of Columbia University, revealed such boot licking character of himself when affronted an invited guest. And those who cheered for his malicious insults are nothing more than brainless cowards.

Who's more mehmoon navaaz?
by Jahanshah Javid on Tue Sep 25, 2007 10:30 AM PDTNader, let's have a competition to see who treats their guest more appropriately. Tehran University should invite George Bush to give a speech and let the audience ask questions and broadcast it. I would like to see what kind of speech would the head of the university deliver to the President of the United States. I have a feeling that it may not be as polite as the one Ahmadinejad got at Columbia. But I may be wrong! Maybe he won't call Bush a war mongering crusader. Let's organize this and see who's really more mehmoon navaaz.
What anti-semetism?!
by Nader on Tue Sep 25, 2007 10:17 AM PDTSo far I do not see a single post commending Ahmadinezhad on his did or speech. You seem to be confused.Try to correctly differentiate between "Zionism" and "Judaism"!
And one more thing
by Jahanshah Javid on Tue Sep 25, 2007 10:06 AM PDTIn addition to my reply earlier, I was thinking on the other hand if Mohammad Reza Shah was speaking at Columbia University, nobody would have dared call him a dictator. You don't piss off your ally, no matter how undemocratic. Ahmadinejad has the misfortune of not only being a worse dictator but also the president of a country that's on the brink of war with the US, so it seems.
Anti-semitism
by Anonymous26 (not verified) on Tue Sep 25, 2007 10:04 AM PDTIt is so sad to see that anti-semitism is alive and well in the Iranian community in the US. I wish I knew which part of the redicilous speech given by this so called leader you agree with. Is it the part where he mentioned there are no gays in Iran or The denial of holocaust. I personally believe many people are simply jeolous of the achievements of the jewish people in this country.
Great work!
by Nader on Tue Sep 25, 2007 09:59 AM PDTJahanshah jan, the core of your message is absolutely correct, however, this dude was a guest speaker and one cannot refute the fact that the "host" was playing into the Zionist hands!
Basically he saved his ass/job on Ahmadinezhad's account!
Did Ahmadinezhad deserve it? Yes!
Was it a "professional" thing to do to a guest speaker? No!
This was something that the audience had to take care of and not the host!!
Don't tell me that you treat your guests the same way dadash::))

Great Cartoon
by Taymaz Rastin (not verified) on Tue Sep 25, 2007 09:04 AM PDTThe pressure from Jewish groups was quite evident, but I don't think Lee Bollinger really needed their help to sound utterly stupid. I thought Ahmadinejad did very well, although obviously the western papers didn't see it that way.
Freedom of speech
by Jahanshah Javid on Tue Sep 25, 2007 09:03 AM PDTYes, Ahmadinejad was given a lashing by president of Columbia University. A) He deserved it. B) This is what freedom of speech is: It includes harsh words. C) In free socities you get lashed with words. In Iran it's a little different; a lashing will leave marks on your back :o)
I commend Columbia University for not giving in to great pressure from the majority who wanted to cancel Ahmadinejad's speech. How free is freedom of speech in Iran? Can Tehran University do the same for Bush?
Ahmadinejad could easily put
by 2-cents (not verified) on Tue Sep 25, 2007 08:58 AM PDTAhmadinejad could easily put him down, but he did not.
President Lee, after all, is merely head of a single university. Ahmadinejad, as obscure and ugly as he is, is head of a sovereign state that sits on 12% and 30% of oil and gas resources of the world.
The only state who is capable, and is busy, taking care of Americans in Iraq and other places.
Nice going with your
by Persian, Jewish and Proud of Both (not verified) on Tue Sep 25, 2007 08:48 AM PDTNice going with your stereotypical anti-semitism. Reminds one of the 1940's Germany!!!! I am sure your beloved leaders Ahmadinejad and Hitler are smiling. Hopefully in the next holocaust denial conference in Tehran, Mr. Esfandiari will sit next to the grand wizard of KKK. Good show.
