I feel very proud when I see this parade and I love everything about it, except having some one paint his face black and walk around acting stupid. I have asked many of many African-American friends and they have all told me they found it very offensive. For god’s sake stop it. Keep the parade and the festival alive but not Hadji Firooz. It has nothing to do with Norooz. Hadji is a title given to a person who goes on a pilgrimage to Mecca therefore it’s an Islamic word so it’s not a Persian tradition and even if it were, I still think it’s wrong to have it here in US. Particularly when white supremacist groups used to do the something to ridicule African-American.
