We previously mentioned the kickoff for this year’s Fajr Film Festival, and now we have news about its scheduled tribute to Iranian actor and comedian Akbar Abdi.
The Crystal Simorgh-winning performer has been a recognizable face for nearly four decades, beginning his career on the small screen, including the children’s television series Bazam Madresam Dir Shod (“I’m Late For School Again”) as the character Mohsen, but went on to play a variety of mostly comedic roles in film.
“He is the only Iranian male actor who has assumed the role of women in three different films The Dreamy by Fereydoun Jeyrani (2013), I Feel Sleepy by Reza Attaran (2010) and The Snowman by Davoud Mirbagheri (1995).”
The festival will be honoring three individuals in total this year: Abdi, voice actor Manoucher Esmaeili, and filmmaker Mohammad Ali Najafi.
