Question

I'm not big, but I'm in love

I am a boy not big enough for love (13 years old). But I feel something deep in my heart whenever I see this girl. I can't resist not looking at her. I can't deny it nor can I express it to her. Maybe because I'm too shy. I'm not sure if she likes me or someone else but sometimes when she looks at me, she goes deep to my eyes.

Please Abjeez help me. I don't know what to do. Shall I tell her about it or no? Well how should I tell her?

Even though I'm not big, I hope you answer my question.

M.

Dear M.,

Love has no age. You can love at any age. By your age, it is not uncommon to develop feelings of romantic love towards someone your own age.

Of course, loving someone means getting to know them, their personality, their likes and dislikes, their character and loving that person for who they are. If you don't really know the person and just admire their pretty face for example, you can't really call that love. We would suggest that you become friends with this girl.

There is no need to make any big proclamations of love. This would just scare her off and also, it may not be what you feel down the line. First get to know her. Does she go to your school? Maybe you can work on school projects together or join a school club through which you will have fun while getting to know each other. If not, you can ask her if she would like to have a game of tennis with you, or watch a movie or go ice-skating together.

As long as you both have your parents' permission, this is the best way to get to know someone and find out if you really love them or not, and whether they feel the same way about you. Take things slow and do not get anxious or overthink when is the right to time to ell her you love her. This is something that will happen naturally and when the right moment comes, you will know it and don't need to plan for it.

Our best wishes,

Abjeez
