The Iranian
Sonya and Darius - Part 2
Sonya's ex-husband blamed her for the beatings she
received. That same
evening he tied her ankles with a telephone cord and then
tied her hands
and took her to the closet and attempted to hang her from
the closet rod. He stood watching while her body then
dropped to the floor forty-five minutes
later. The voice in her head was screaming horrible words
but she was afraid
to voice them.
I related to what Sonya had been through and realized
that I had a poignant
poem about abuse, which I will share.
Because of Me
If anyone is out there looking for me
Here I am
If anyone can hear my cry
Here I am
If anyone can help me
Here I am
In the corner of my bedroom
I tightly squeeze my knees
Not even letting go
To wipe the tears from my cheeks
He takes his belt
He buckles it in place
Before he leaves, he says to me,
"You deserved it!
You know you did!"
As you will notice each one of the women in Just Breathe,
and women in
general, have a tendency of reflecting on past
relationships. It's not
a bad thing; actually it's very good when used as a
guidance. It becomes
a bad thing if it prevents her from pursuing a
relationship or interfers
in a current one. If so, she must seek a counselor or
therapist.
Sonya enjoyed her dinner with Darius very much. The very
next day Darius
called and asked her to go shopping with him. They went to
the Beverly
Center and ended up on Rodeo Drive. Darius secretly bought
two items for
Sonya and told her they were for her but wouldn't tell her
what they were.
This was just driving her crazy.
Sonya went home that evening to find that an audition
script was on her
doorstep. She was overjoyed and practiced her lines with
Darius. He was
very impressed with her acting ability.
They moved too quickly but they figured they had given
birth to a relationship.
Sonya's auditions were consuming her and they were apart
for days at
a time. This time apart will teach them to better
understand the things
they want and how VALUABLE time is and how WRONG it is to
waste it.
