Sightless soldiers

By Bijan Rafat
December 17, 2002
The Iranian

As we march heedlessly
stuck in blind troops
we make conjectures,
seek answers in oblivion
with every step we take
a thought is veiled
a new view succeeds
erroneous visions, creeds
as temporary as life
in deathful wars or of candles
that continue being replaced
our minds as malleable as wax
we sink in the vortex of life
with the flow of illusions
which we believe in
and we justify it with facts:
equivocal perceptions
and "irrefutable errors"
from our personal lives
we fight invisible wars
