Come stand by my window

By Sheema Kalbasi & Roger Humes

The Iranian

Come
stand by my window
where below we may watch
the people move through
the helter-skelter of the day to day throng

and I find my fingers
unconsciously entwine
with yours
- as if they had always been there
or at least meant to be -

while I hold a glass half filled
with the wine of desires
and you wear
the longest sleeves of imagination.

Together we will view the white dreams
of those people who move through
the helter-skelter of the day to day throng

and for that instant
....... forget about
when the time will arrive
........for us to depart.
