A poem written by the great African-American poet, Robert Hayden. More information about him can be gleaned from a number of internet sites, including PoemHunter.com. The poem is entitled, “Al Hajj Malik Al Shabbaz – Malcolm X”. I have not been able to locate it in its entirety on the internet, but the first few stanzas are also available here. Robert Hayden was an incredibly gifted poet and an exceptional human being, deeply devoted to issues of social justice. My hope is to familiarize more and more Iranians to his work through my lowly translations of some of his works, beginning with this:
